SingStar Vol. 2 announced, new tracks available Friday

The Euro-exclusive PS3 version of SingStar is ready to belt out another edition with SingStar Volume 2, just as the SingStore is finally getting up to speed. Volume 2 will include 30 new songs, a "Harmony Duet" mode, remote PSP play (you can't sing in public, only browse the SingStore) and features songs like "California Dreamin" by the Mamas and the Papas, along with a lot of artists from this decade. There is currently no release date or announcement whether the new tracks and features will be available as DLC from the SingStore.

The SingStore is also adding 45 new songs this Friday featuring a wide variety of international flavor. We've placed the full list after the break. Still no word when (or if) SingStar for PS3 will make it across the pond.

Seriously, who is buying this game? All of the Gamestops, Targets, and Walmarts in my neck of the woods have Singstar blister packs starting to cake with dust. Even my music gaming friends say that no one plays it in the states. Are my friends telling me the straight shit or are they smoking crack?

The game has not been released in the states, so unless they imported, no one in the states is playing it.

You guys do not understand British sensibilities. If you want to market to the Brits you must turn back to the clock to early 90's pop culture type of advertising where they show blond girls with big wide gaping mouths, clothes bought directly from the Zody's bargain rack, and sunglasses bought from the neighborhood circle K. I am hoping they skip the disc release completely in the US and just give us a cheap (or free) digital version with few (or no) bundled songs. Be nice to not have to do any lame disc swapping and to not have to put up with the filler songs for the 5 or 6 decent ones and 3 or 4 good ones on each disc (and in the case of some versions I am being very generous).

They just need to get serious about making the SingStore worth using then they could give away the software and make money from the songs. The first step they need to do is add all of the songs from the PS2 versions of the game to the SingStore. Of course the ability to just import the songs from the PS2 discs would be okay as well.

And all the people wondering who buys these games need to get some women in their lives. These games are way more popular with the ladies than Rock Band (mainly because of all the pop songs in SingStar and if they had a country version it would kill).
