It does sort of. There is no co op in the main story. But there is co op missions that can be played online together that follow a story. I have a feeling with the 360 dlc that there will be more of them coming down the pipe.

For those looking to pre-order and maybe getting shot down because your local shop has "run out" of pre-orders, you might try pre-ordering the SE version. It's only $30 more and chances are they'll have more of those available than the regular game because they'll be less pre-orders. But then you are basically paying a $30 premium to get the game on the day of launch, which some of you might be willing to do. Of course, you will get the SE shwag bag of stuff too, but not sure if that alone is worth the extra dough.

It's definitely a much better SE than most- the lock box, duffel bag, art book, and soundtrack.. did I miss anything?

that is $90 for a video game. i had preordered the SE version at first but then i went back and changed it. i dont care how much extra money i have in my game fund, i could use that $30 to buy....gasp....another game. i will say that the lock box looked pretty sweet, but other than that, no dice for me. im just too cheap to do it and be able to sleep at night.

as one poster mentioned,

you know who must be loving the release of GTA4? the people that handle the online servers for microsoft and sony. for a few days people will be playing the single player game.

by the way, you may want to buy an option (call) for the stock, instead of straight buying it outright, you get to control a hell of a lot more stock with options....

Vid,

That's rather the opposite of my experience. I hated the GTA games. The graphics sucked, the controlling sucked, the targetting sucked. Then San Andreas came along, and as a good consumer I bought for the sake of adding to the game collection, and absolutely loved that game. I actually finished it too.

I went back and tried playing Vice City this week. It still sucks, IMHO.

Interesting... yeah, that's pretty much the opposite of my experience with GTA. I thought the whole eating and working out thing was going overboard. I just wanted to do the missions. I may well be in the minority there. Oh well, I still can't resist GTA games.

Vid,

Actually, I think I'm in the minority, and your opinion is more mainstream here, at least considering that the GTA franchise has done well from the beginning.

I kinda got off on the working out and balancing the fat, etc. I guess it just struck a realistic note with me. As you said, though, I'm definately stoked for GTA IV.

Yeah, San Andreas was definitely my least favorite of the GTA3 iterations as well. I believe I got into about the first mission in the San Francisco-like section of the game before I gave up on it.

I beat it just to beat it, but it did become an exercise in tedium the last few days. I'm hoping (trusting!) GTA 4 wont be the same.. and having the online play will, I'm sure, assist greatly.

I am going to come down with a mystery "virus" on the 29th. I am sure It will be bad enough I just wont be able to make it to work. I will have just enough energy to make it the store for cough medicine (and GTAIV) and right back to the couch I go. I will make a recovery only after blowing up helicopters and banging some whores

WHOA man, I only weighed in on the 2 games that I found interesting and planned on purchasing, and one that I thought was a dangerous waste of time (Don King Prizefighter + Wii BalanceBoard.. lmao it makes me laugh even now!) I didn't even come at you today, I just saw things being said which I thought were unfairly biased, I didn't express any bias myself, and now here you are unnecessarily calling me out.

Fine, this ONE post you replied to has nothing to do with GTA, but I felt it needed to be said. Most of my posts are relevant to the topic at hand.

I tried to keep it plain, reasonable, and rational- but clearly, thats not how you want it. Take your own advice and stay on topic.

should be interesting to see whether all of these numbers turn out. I think they're expecting A LOT of people to buy "now-gen" just for this game. Honestly, I don't think the numbers are gonna be that big, but we'll see soon enough.

I already took off work on April 29th. Hopefully Crackdown didn't spoil me to the point where playing a sandbox game with a "regular guy" is no longer fun.

The multiplayer modes in this game look epic.

Then there will be people like me who end up buying it on both the PS3 & 360, so I can see them making that much money.

They'd make $400million+£35 if there are enough copies in the UK! Friend works one of them game shops and says they had queues just for the preorder. All over my nearest towns and city the game shops have sold out.

Supermarkets. If not then I'm fooked. Shit come to Steam so I don't have to deal with orders and junk.

Of course this will sell more than Halo 3, it's GTA. It could have been 360 only and it would have outsold Halo 3 in the long run (but these first week numbers obviously wouldn't be there). I say this simply because every single PS2 GTA crushed each Halo game in sales.

And please don't give me the grief about a larger install base because the simple fact is GTA is a much more successful franchise.

I've got every GTA game since the second one and have enjoyed them immensely, and yet for some reason, I've decided to give this one a miss on launch day.

Remember what happened with San Andreas? I remember one magazine posting a picture of a real guy sitting in a car and saying 'Not far from what it'll look like.' Now, remember what happened? Remember how unimpressed you were?

I've said enough. I'll probably get it maybe a month after it comes out.

This will be the best summer ever!!!!!!
I'm picking it up on the 29th, but wont play until the end of the semester. Already have the simpsons game, devil mar cry and GT5prologue waiting for me to pop open. Now GTA4, Haze and the MGS4... i know its impossible, but my PS3 might get a RROD this summer.

I am just glad that GTA IV is being released on both systems on the same day. There would be a lot of game/console bashing from both sides if it was exclusive.

Much worse than the DLC arguments that are going around at the moment.

BTW, I'm buying GTAIV for my 360. If the game is as good as expected and looks or plays better on the PS3 then this game will drive me to purchase a PS3.

If not I think MGS 4 will probably be the game that pushes me over the PS3 line.

Ummm...
"Grand Theft Auto IV is expected to earn $400 million in its first week on sale, handily trumping Master Chief's $300 million space hoop slam dunk."

Joystiq said it first....AND IMO M$ SUCKS ASS!!!
There is a reason yahoo is trying to get out of the merger with M$. Because everyone in silicon valley hates them!
And if fanboy consumers would pull there heads out there ass's for half a second they would see M$ for the evil empire they are.
Think about it EVERY thing you buy for the Xbox can and should be made by 3rd parties(i.e. headset,HDD).
But no M$ has to make things more complicated then they are so we HAVE to buy from them.
I mean $200 for a fugin 120gig HDD!! Thats total BS!
And only goes to show the greedy nature of M$. And say what you will about getting more because you pay for XBL. But sony will soon offer a full 3d world(HOME) FOR FREE!!
And if sony can do this why cant XBL be free?
And what about that 150mb limit on the size of DL games? WHY!?!?!?! Because M$ dose not want to compete with DL games.OMG we might lose the slightest amount of profit!! Shut that chit down!!
Now say what you will"oh your just a PS3 fanboy" but to me its more then just being a fanboy. Its having enough common sense to know when your being raped as a consumer.

P.S. Yes i have a PS3 but even if there was no PS3 id still hate M$ and would buy a wii in protest!
