Famitsu publisher backtracks on E3 DS prediction

We weren't that surprised when Nintendo denied any knowledge of the existence of a new DS model hinted at by Famitsu publisher Hirokazu Hamamura last week. We were a little more surprised when Hamamura himself denied ever making the prediction.IGN is reporting on a statement released by Enterbrain (Famitsu's parent company) explaining that reports of the original prediction were inaccurate and that Hamamura actually "believes it unlikely that Nintendo would release a new form factor or a successor model" for the DS. So was it simply a mistaken quote/translation, or did the powers-that-be at Nintendo put the screws to Enterbrain in order to tone back the speculation? We may never know the truth, but that won't stop us from wildly speculating ourselves ...

so i have a guess,Big N made a "deal"(optional or forced idk) with the guys to deny it all.
Now lets all forget the prediction of a new ds so we can be "surprised" by it on E3...
We know N has it,N knows we know,but still when a system is revealed its gota be done BIG you know,like E3 lights show and girls!

All I know is that when the rumor was going around the original DS was being updated, Nintendo sorta denied it and then announced the DS Lite a couple of weeks later. Just sayin...

Hello night crew...just got to drop my two cents.
Nintendo is really being bastards about this. Something is definitely up. Obviously, they don't want to rock the boat as news of a new DS would tank current DS sales. This is something that they definitely don't want especially in Japan, were the PSP is gaining ground.
