Some people quit smoking with a patch, some with therapy, and some still with hypnosis or acupuncture. DS Fanboy reader Dan had an alternate method: he replaced his nicotine addiction with an addiction to Pokemon. So far he's only 40 days into the trial, but he's reporting success. (What is not reported, however, is how many pokemon he's caught. This is a vital detail, folks!)
So what happens when Dan needs to break his Pokemon addiction?

When you want to quit pokemon here is a little tip: never use the masterball to get Mewtwo until you every other pokemon to the max level and all others caught. If you ever achieve this level you'll be beyond help anyway, otherwise if you wish to quit at any time before that, go kill Mewtow and catch a lvl 3 pokemon using the masterball, then save.
Lets face it, if you can then keep playing knowing you'll never have every pokemon, that addiction deserves to continue.

Protip of the day: Moving from one addiction to another is useless and definitely NOT a good thing.
My suggestion is play WoW if you need to be addicted to something.

Why is telling furries to yiff in hell a good thing? If anything I'd think it would make the problem worse as there would be a massive amount of furries in a single "furpile" ultimately leading to the most yiffing ever perpetrated.

Geez, you guys are acting like he replaced a cigarette addiction with something equally bad. HE IS PLAYING POKEMON INSTEAD OF DYING! That's a good thing.

Agreed. I am all for replacing life-threatening and lung-deteriorating habits with non-life-threatening and non-lung-deteriorating habits. We're all addicted to something, and it'd be better if that something didn't have the potential to, you know, kill us.

I thought you had to ween yourself off Pokemon. Like, you downgrade to Digimon or one of those other kinds of franchises, then you downgrade to The Sims, then you play Animal Crossing, then you're cured.

As a smoker I know when he does take the break from smoking, he would have gotten over the hump. The tricky part is not to let yourself fall into that habit. If possible avoid alcohol as much as you can, that is one instance that you really do crave a cigarette. Especially if there are others around you smoking.
As for the sex thing, you know what I have never craved one in that situation.

I have to attest to this too. As a filthy smoker, alcohol only makes me feel like Iu NEED a smoke. One beer and I'm usually cool, but more than that and I really start jonesing for one.

Anyone remembers that lady who said that she didn't need to play a videogame to judge it, because it's like doing drugs or teen pregnancy?
