Ignition, SNK to co-publish Metal Slug 7 in North America
Mercury Meltdown publisher Ignition Entertainment has announced that the company has inked a deal with SNK Playmore to co-publish titles in North America, the first of which will be Metal Slug 7 for the DS.
The pair are not exactly strangers, having been cozy together for quite some time on the European side of the pond. Beyond Metal Slug 7, which represents the retro shooter's first outing on Nintendo's handheld, no other titles have been announced, though considering SNK's pedigree we expect the fruits of this union, whatever they are, to be decidedly 2D.

Fucking yeah!

I'm a huge fan of Metal Slug... it's a very detailed game, very well animated, specially for being a sprite based game.
I spent a lot of money playing Metal Slug on the arcades =p
PS. Metal Slug 7 is DS exclusive, right? I mean, is not on the arcades, or am I wrong? I haven't played it.
FOXHOUND @ Apr 17th 2008 2:14PM
I think it is DS exclusive -- I think I recall seeing a preview article on it referring to it; supposedly done well too.
I'd like to buy an Onyx DS... but I know the moment I do, they'll come out with a green/black one I want more. :\
Martez @ Apr 17th 2008 2:23PM
Fernando, why do you make a small post and then reply to yourself with an actual comment?
StrangeBum @ Apr 17th 2008 2:30PM
@ Martez
I think it has to do with Fernando's rushing to make first comments or something. Not that it bothers me, but I have noticed it too. Any truth to that Fernando?
Secondly, hell fucking yeah! I love Metal Slug too.
Thirdly, (I have a lot to say to you guys) @ FOXHOUND
I know what you're saying. I kind of like the crimson/onyx DS and the cobalt/onyx DS but dammit if they come out with an olivegreen/onyx DS or something I would be all over that!
FrankTheCrank @ Apr 17th 2008 2:32PM
Foxhound,
I just dumped my polar white DS on eBay, got $100 for it. It was a launch DS Lite. I sold it because I have a funny feeling Nintendo is releasing a new DS. I don't care what they say...their due for new hardware. The GBA is DEAD, no need for that port. And, they've milked the color thing already. A new DS is imminent.

StrangeBum / FranktheCrank ---
LOL it's for those exact reasons why I'm so hesistant; of which the same goes for PSP. Granted, my phat-ass PSP broke(my own doing, messing with "toolz")... but with that Kratos-Crimson one coming out before Summer, I'm holding off on buying a Slim until that releases(and it's a much better deal).
My big worry right now is as you guys mentioned... getting that onyx DS and suddenly that green/onyx(or worse, an entirely new DS style)is released. Like a damned smack to the forehead and a swift boot of my wallet, it is!
colin @ Apr 17th 2008 6:40PM
@foxhound,
I have noticed that you say "granted" a lot in your posts. Just an observation.

Random - Ignition Entertainment's HQ is based in my home town. Which is pretty much middle of nowheresvile UK.
Will be picking up Metal Slug 7 when it hits the UK for sure
Martez @ Apr 17th 2008 2:24PM
More Metal Slug is always good- though I wish this was a downloadable game on 360/PS3. Me want Metal Slug's gorgeous art in HD.
FOXHOUND @ Apr 17th 2008 2:38PM
+1
...this man speaks the truth. SNK/Ignition/who-the-hell-ever; heed this suggestion "with the quickness".
Sir Fidlious Wong (Zeon Defense Force) @ Apr 17th 2008 2:40PM
Metal Slugs gorgeous art would need to be remade to be in HD. Not saying that's a bad thing, I'd just prefer they finish KOFXII before upgrading MS.

I'm as big a Metal Slug fan as anyone - in fact, I'd go so far as to say I love the games, and have beaten most of them (except the atrocious 3 and 6) in under 10 credits.
That being said, I'm not sure I could justify laying down 30$ or more for a single Metal Slug. In this day and age, games this short tend to appear on XBLA, PSN, or Steam, for around 15$. The entire Metal Slug anthology was 40$, which is less than 6 a game, and when I can still enjoy them, why waste all the cash on what's likely to be a 30 minute experience?
Fernando Rocker @ Apr 17th 2008 3:03PM
Probably it will $20 in a very short time... once the sales drop.
But it will be nice to have this exclusive game on a portable system.
ThornedVenom (Harley Quinn Defense Force) @ Apr 17th 2008 3:03PM
Never played Metal Slug, but if it's going to be a DS exclusive, I might have to pick that one up, along with Advance Wars: Days of Ruin.
Kamizar @ Apr 17th 2008 5:11PM
But will it be harder this time around?
Cesaria (SSBB: 3136-6466-5083) @ Apr 17th 2008 5:14PM
Can the DS be anymore bad ass? No.
Jhongerkong @ Apr 17th 2008 10:51PM
Pretty sure the first Metal Slug on a Nintendo handheld was Metal Slug Advance...
