After spending that kind of coin on the extra content this is to be expected. Do what you have to I guess...

Doesn't it seem like they are starting a bit late? I remember Halo 3 advertising was going strong months before it released.

Have you turned on G4 in the last couple of weeks? Nothing but GTA4 ads.

Sure its a little less than 2 weeks away but that doesn't mean its too late. This will probably be rather huge for them!

The GTAIV advert here isn't much good, just Nicko walking down several different streets with things going on in the background to some music, doesn't really show anything.

Here found it:

PS3 owner here, so I am a little biased, do not this sound a little desperate? less than 2 weeks, looks like the millions spent for exclusive content was not enough

not at all... GTA has already hyped itself up... But since there are last minute people on the fence, this would be an ideal time to strike...

Most people dont feel the hype of anything till the last minute... So 2 weeks is perfect... thats a paycheck lol

Honestly Robert, what MS is doing doesn't appear "desperate" at all, just displaying good business acumen.

What, to me at least, appears desperate is the PS3 fanboys coming over here and making these comments about MS pushing GTAIV with advertising $$$. Sounds like the Sony fanbase is growing concerned.

@Knight Marquise

honestly, I wanted to express my opinion, xbox360fanboy.com is not requesting a gamertag in order to post, so I think anyone can write something reasonable here. Thanks andyg8180 and TORO because your replies shows that there are people that can have a conversation without recurring to call someone a fanboy. Next time you want to call me a fanboy, please at least click on my name and read some of my previous comments

Robert,

Why bother, your first line states your biased for the PS3. I have nothing against the PS3, plan on picking one up for FF, nevertheless, what you stated has been appearing all over the joystiq network from PS3 fanboys.

Again, my point is that how does spending advertising dollars make a corporation look desperate? It doesn't, only, perhaps, in the eyes of a fanboy.

In other words, your comment would be analogous to me going to PS3 fanboy and posting:

Doesn't Sony coming out with a GTA IV bundle with the PS3 look a little desperate for Sony?

Answer: No, unless your a fanboy.

ummm. If Sony do that two weeks before the game launch, after expending millions on a the DLC content, I will think that. now that you mention the bundle, you see the MGS bundle being planned for months, this advertising news sound too late for me. My opinion is based in that my friends that have an XBox360 or PS3 do not know about the exclusive DLC so I think they have failed to show that to the public, (do not live on the US so the situation maybe different there), only hardcore gamers that read and follow gaming sites know about that here. I have yet to see an ad that tells you about the future DLC, they do not try to explain that you have that extra option if you buy the XBox version

If you loved Game Fuel, be on the lookout in the coming months for three new flavors of Dew. The names elude me at the moment but each has ginseng. One is Strawberry Melon (pink), another is a berry blend (blue) and there's a clear third flavor as well.

Apparently two of the three will be tested and the third, based on sales, will remain.

(I'd be happy to have a re-named Game Fuel hit the shelves however..)

All they need is a $50 drop off the premium console and advertise GTA 4 on the 360 with new lower price.

People will flock.

It's not a matter of Microsoft needing to promote GTA IV, it's instead an issue of 'Why not?'

Consider the following:
Nintendo is in a state of re-formatting their way of doing things. Gone is the day of "Now You're Playing With POWER!". It's now replaced by the 'Touch Generations' format which, to it's credit, is doing extremely well.

BUT...

Imagine if Nintendo hadn't been so afraid to advertise Metroid Prime 3 and Super Mario Galaxy. Imagine a blowout of media, cross promotions, commercials up the ass. (And for the record, Galaxy deserved a lot more than it got in the public eye if you ask me.)

If Nintendo had promoted these titles a bit more, don't you think even MORE people would have bought these games?

It's just the same as seeing a commercial for He-Man toys back in the 80's. You saw the cartoon, you loved it, knew there were toys, but ads just made you froth at the mouth all that much more.

So no..to clarify (from how I see these things), it's not a matter of Microsoft NEEDING to promote; we as gamers are already doing that.

The fact that casual Playstation 3 owners may honestly not know it's coming to their console..now that's something worth advertising I feel. I'm genuinely not being a fanboy here; with the ammunition Microsoft has coming, Sony needs to let gamers at large know they have an alternative. (Of course these ads would be targeted at the less hardcore gamers that don't troll sites like we all do.)

I think if they're planning a campaign that big in the States, they best get it rolling pretty soon.

Agreed,

I really don't believe that it's going to be near as big as what they put into Halo 3. As other posters have mentioned, the Halo 3 Hype Machine started easily over 6 months prior to launch.

Color me glad. The worse the PS3 does, the less likely it is that I'll have to spend money on one, heh. I'm already having enough trouble scraping cash together for a Wii.
