Peter Dille – Senior Vice President for PlayStation Network ... oh, and marketing – wants you to relax. He knows a lot of us (all of us?) are frustrated at how slowly things seem to be moving on the Sony front, so he's got a message of Hope: 2008 is your year, PS3 owners. Not only are there a couple of big games coming your way, but some of those long overdue features you keep hearing about (... and hearing about and ...) are finally coming.
The comically overdue in-game XMB is, well ... it's still coming, along with other PSN upgrades like "accomplishments" and Home. Also coming: a video service because, y'know, Sony owns its own movie studio; Dille says "it's already been confirmed that we'll be offering a video service for PS3 in a way that separates the service from others you've seen or used." And how about those PSN cards some of you have been waiting for? Retailers will carry them in $20 and $50 denominations "starting this spring." Our guess: you'll be waiting until E3.

Thanks Ludwig for the link. We all knew it was coming this week. I was looking for more in depth coverage.
I just don't get it. A AAA title/franchise like that getting only a release story? Is that all?
As far as the Sony rep yapping about added features, my bad, it was a day old story:
http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/16/sony-vp-promises-in-game-xmb-na-video-download-service-playsta/
Their still not talking in-game custom music via mp3.
I need the new wheel, NOW.
Agreed...this game is amazing looking. I mean, it blows away anything else out there. And if your a car fanatic, like myself, this is nirvana. The shit is photo realistic.
Dude..I'm adding you to my PSN friend list. Be warned! We shall race!
People still argue about consoles on Joystiq? ... It's cool if any of these companies were paying you guys, but the converse is true. You guys have wrote essays on this crap (accumulating comments), let it die.
Anecdote: I congratulated a Giants fan on his team winning the SuperBowl, his response "umm, thanks, I guess?" bragging rights cannot buy anything.
At the end of the day (cliché alert) who wins?
Time for Microsoft to issue another pre-emptive press release explaining why they couldn't outsell a console that has no in-game XMB, no video store, no achievements, and no prepaid cards.
Again.

True that. But this afternoon NPD will be releasing their monthly sales numbers, so Microsoft has to explain why they got outsold in the month of March in their friendliest territory.
I'm guessing that Don Mattrick gives us the emphatic, "I'll pay you $1,200 if you can find an XBox 360 on store shelves, bitches!"
But remember the two weeks when the PS3 outsold the Wii in Japan? You guys were very happy, calling the Wii a fad and that the PS3 will crush the Wii.
Don't know whats happening... yesterday I only made one comment =p
But I do know that the NPD numbers are coming out today... I'm just preparing for the battle...
WWWWWWWIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
Why is it that you all cry anytime something sounds negative towards the PS3, then here when its just a basic story, you ignore the topic and launch anti MS and anti other joystiq user comments.
Its pretty weak.

I wish my ps3 had achievements in better XMB, and I wish that I could use my 360 controller for FPS games on my PS3. Likewise, I wish my 360 could use the ps3 controller for fighting/sports games.
I could care less who the originator of an idea was if it adds more fun to gameplay experience.
what console before the 360 let you access the systems os in a game, check messages and have a video store built into it? So yea it was the first, dummy.
PC
ok Live was the first to bring it to the living room and it put alot of good stuff in one place but that doesnt mean nobody else is allowed to do it? dummy.
i didnt say Live was a bad service, im just saying its not the holy grail either. just dont act surprised when other companies wanna get in on that success.
LIVE > PSN
END OF STORY..KTHXBAH!
Cost of Live > Cost of PSN
Get back on track with new downloads of PS1 games or at least ask CAPCOM to re-release old arcade games like RIVAL SCHOOLS/PROJECT JUSTICE, SF3, MvC2, and so on. I like PUZZLE FIGHTER and all, but I've worn the game out.
