Rockstar Social Club open for pre-registration
Rockstar Games' Social Club is now open for pre-registration before the site fully launches on April 29. All the site requires is your email address to sell to third parties, age (kids, make sure to lie) and zip code. As a bonus, those who pre-register will automatically be entered in a drawing for a drawing portrait to be created of their likeness in the GTA IV art style. Admittedly, that sounds cool enough to risk opening ourselves up to a mountain of spam. Time to make dummy email account #210.

I decided to check up on the page an hour ago and sure as sh*t it was open for registration. I was something like the 28,000th person to sign up! Holy crap thats alot already!

Anyone else unable to register? It says my registration was missing fields but I've tried a number of times and it's not... I get the confirmation newsletter e-mail though...

It gave me registration errors as well and then when I tried to reregister it told me the email was already registered. Tried to log in and it told me my info was wrong, so then I attempted to recover my password and it tells me that an email was sent but I still haven't gotten one hours later. Bummer...

I signed in a few hours ago. The player card looks a LOT like the Gamercard.net version of an Xbox Live gamertag. :p

The sign-ups happened quick. I'm number 10056, which I think is the 56th person to register. But only ten minutes after that people were posting numbers over 11000. Now they have at least 28,000 you say? And the UK is still in bed. Wouldn't be surpised if they have close to 200,000 users by launch. These things tend to grow exponentially once word gets out and time zones sync up.

Are you saying that little kids will get their parents to buy an M rated game for them?

"entrants must be (i) legal residents of the 50 United States, Germany, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, and (ii) who are eighteen years of age on the date of entry. "
Wait so the Netherlands, Germany and New Zeland all get to enter the contest but Canada, the direct freaking neighbour of the US, does not get to participate?
I still want to register because I want to check my stats for GTA4 when its out but im afraid of spam. I guess ill create another email too :p

Hey wait... Im lucky #69! Might sound perverted but in the GTA world 69 is the luckiest number you'll run into.

It should be noted it seems to only work in IE. Although I'm running the beta version of Firefox so who knows if that is the problem.
CB @ Apr 18th 2008 1:11AM
Just registered using Firefox, it works.
Waffle Slayer @ Apr 18th 2008 1:58AM
Confirmed for Firefox 2.0.0.11
Steve @ Apr 18th 2008 4:27AM
I registered fine, even in the latest beta of Firefox.
ill trooper @ Apr 18th 2008 11:15AM
I just registered using Safari, maybe the problems people are encountering are related to the slammed servers, not the choice of browser.
Anthony @ Apr 18th 2008 2:28PM
I don't know what is wrong with Firefox. It seems to download just fine (the progress bar takes the time I assume it should)... It just loads a black page.
Like I said it worked in IE. Although apparently i live in the past because my resolution was not large enough for the entire screen.
Goblin @ Apr 18th 2008 3:35AM
I've tried registering but as soon as I click "register" it says "sorry, you may not register with this site". Not even a chance to put details in.
Cal @ Apr 18th 2008 9:54AM
Don't put your age as under 18
dylan @ Apr 18th 2008 10:01AM
I had the same problem as Goblin. I entered all info correctly including birthdate (02/14/1982) and I got a

maybe I'm retarded but I can't even get the site to scroll down to show the register button after I put in my info. It's weird
