There's still no release date for Unreal Tournament 3 on Xbox 360, but there are some details now on what makes the 360's iteration different from PC and PS3. IGN reports that the Xbox 360 version of UT3 will have five new "exclusive" maps, two new characters and includes two-player splitscreen. It will also contain the free maps available as DLC for the PS3 and PC versions of the game.
Jeff Morris, senior producer at Epic, tells the site he believes UT3 will be a reprieve for those with "tactical shooter fatigue." He stands by the game being an "unabashedly twitch" title. We're expecting more details (maybe even a release date) on the Xbox 360 version of UT3 sometime tomorrow.

All of the crap they're putting on the X360 is a joke, man. Think about it -- they're giving exclusive maps, 2 characters, and a split screen. Of those three, the split screen is the only thing the PC/PS3 versions don't have(or can't do as of present).
The PC/PS3 versions allow mods... which would easily do the other options. Epic has yet to confirm that Microsoft will allow them to have mods; and to be straight with you -- I seriously doubt it'll happen. Expect it as DLC content or none at all. Which sucks, because X360 owners should get the same options as the other two.

I've been playing UT since the early days, and much as they try to make it about the mod community, it never is. Apart from one or two funny mutators, nothing particularly great has ever come from the Unreal modding community, especially when compared to the success Valve has had with their fan-made creations. If you're buying UT for the mods, you're buying for the wrong reasons, no matter what platform it's delivered on.

Who can complain with free? Besides, good mods are good, just like good games are good.
Go ask Nintendo for more enlightment.

Mods are garbage right now, but in a year when I'm playing maps that I and others have made, and the community is still going strong because of it, you can tell me how much you still enjoy your 360 version.
mods make these games. Just wait and see. Im building something badass right now.

And I'd like to append my comment by stating that I am not buying UT3 for 360... I've already got it on my PC.

How so, Eggy? I don't want to play UT3 with a controller - the game is too fast, and looks so much better on my PC. I can take some screenshots of it when I get home from work, if you think I'm bullshitting.

I have, but it sounds like you probably *haven't*... They're nearly the same damn ones on the PC, except for the sound files(which could likely appear in another version update for the game). Hell, since it's a MOD, if there's a problem with it, blame should be placed on the creator.
Also, to be grammatically correct on your opinion earlier: "95% _are_ garbage", not "is". :]

Is anyone actually waiting for this? I mean, there are a billion multiplayer shooters on teh 360 already. The only thing that I wanted was the free user mods and maps like the PS3 has, but thats not even happening? What's the point?
Maps and mods need to be free for all games. Like the PC. Microtransactions need to die.

Oh yeah, 'cause no PC shooters ever had maps designed by users that weren't freakin' awesome.
Oh wait, no, that's not right at all. Counterstrike and UT2004 were both RIDDLED with custom maps.

the ut2004 user created mods were by far better than anything Epic created in the game. Especially the onslaught maps!!

"When was the last time a major PC FPS had packs of 3 multiplayer maps created, polished and tested by the original development team, and given out for free?"
I believe the last was Crysis. FEAR did it, UT2004 did it, Half-Life 2 did it, etc.
It is actually extremely common on the PC. Devs make free maps for their fans as a "thank you".

Yeah, but RV, the 360 actually has an online community, so more people will play it on the 360 than the PS3.
They haven't confirmed whether or not the 360 will have user created mods yet, so don't just blindly say it won't. Chances are, it won't, but either way, it will be a kick ass game.
To be honest, I would rather have 5 exclusive maps rather than a shit ton of horrid user created maps to wade through.
This game is so good, I'll buy it for the 360 as well, even though I already have it for the PC. Once I get a PS3 I'll buy it for that, too... If I'm a fanboy of anything, it's Unreal.

You get five exclusive maps while the PS3 and PC gets hundreds of exclusive player made maps.

I'm all for splitscreen(as I griped yesterday, I'm on the verge of selling my spare controllers due to lack of use); but I have a feeling it'll either be used for a lame TWO player offline campaign or duel mode... instead of either a FOUR player deathmatch on/offline and campaign.

I agree with others here that there's enough multi-player FPS games on the 360. What's the point of this one? Even more so if you can't mod it up like the PS3 or PC versions. Not a complete waste of time but I believe the largest appeal to the game is the ability to add mods from both the developer and the community.
If this ain't happening I can't see it taking away a lot of server time from CoD or Halo.

Nothing says that the PS3 version won't get a splitscreen update when the 360 version drops (whenever that turns out to be.... looking like fall sometime at this point). In fact, given that their development is all using their own multiplatform engine, I'd be very surprised if any code was confined to one platform or the other (besides restrictions placed there due to MS or Sony restrictions).

The split screen is the only thing that important here. I couldn't care less about it though since I have no friends and only play online :(.
I would take mouse/keyboard and mod support over spilt screen though.

Worth the wait and this definitely makes it better than the ps3 version in my eyes...
However I still doubt that I'm going to buy it since GoW2 is basically right after that and to me that has the potential to be way more fun than UT3.

UT3 is a whole different ballgame than GoW. UT3 is fast, frantic fragging, while GoW is much more of a slow, tactical shooter.
