Condemned 2 demo hits Xbox Live
We're a little nervous about a new demo for Condemned 2 that was released on Xbox Live this morning. It's not that it's not worth your time (it is) or your money (it's free). We're just concerned that you'll get the wrong idea about Condemned 2 from the provided sample.
If it's the first level of the game, believe us when we say it gets way better. The enemies get smarter, the environments more varied, the weapons get cooler the deeper you get into the game, so don't go getting turned off by the demo slice. We should warn you though that the new Ethan Thomas voice guy doesn't get any less awful. We pine for you, Greg Grunberg. We pine.

yeah it was a bad demo. Too slow and not enough action to entice buyers
Moe @ Apr 18th 2008 9:14PM
Wasn't this released weeks ago on PSN?
theturtle363 @ Apr 18th 2008 9:16PM
yeah

The demo is horrible. I was on the fence for this, now I definitely will not be getting it any time soon. I might pick it up used in the Fall.
theturtle363 @ Apr 18th 2008 9:23PM
hey read the article man, it is a great game, the demo didn't do it justice at all
Jomolungma @ Apr 18th 2008 9:26PM
Fair enough. But with GTA IV coming out in a week, this game is gonna get pushed back for me regardless. But the reviews have been generally positive so I was thinking I'd give it a shot eventually.

Are you kidding me?
Condemned 2: Bloodshot is one of the worst video game sequels ever made! From the inexcusably inferior voice acting to the horribly off melee, this is the biggest video game disappointment of the year.
I was so looking forward to a second edition after playing through the original - which, in all ways, was way more intense and creepy.
"believe us when we say it gets way better." Are you KIDDING me?!? It gets WORSE!!! Leading all the way up to one of the most anti-climactic and lame endings of all time!!!
The boss fight in Condemned: Criminal Origins is intense and exciting. You will be bored as hell fighting the end boss in Bloodshot.
Plus, the first Condemned was way more challenging than this crap. In the original, guns and especially ammo for guns, was so hard to come by. In the sequel, for most of the game you'll have a fully auto military rifle with plenty of ammo. It is so boring!!! Condemned is supposed to be about the melee.
What a letdown!
Oh, and you know what's really dumb? The melee weapons break over time? How incredibly stupid! Pipes break? Crowbars break? Yeah, right. How stupid is that?
Also, they should have left it only melee weapons and no hand combat. The punches have no depth or weight to them. You can punch a bum two feet away or two feet to the side and still hit him!!! It look so stupid. They hit zone is so freaking wide it looks annoyingly retarded.
The only good thing about this game was the graphics. That was it. They were a heck of a lot better than the original, but that doesn't count for squat. It's the game play and the story that 's #1.
Don't waste your time playing this crap. Pick up a $10 copy of the original on eBay instead.

Played the first and the sequel. 2 of my favorite games on the 360. I don't know what you're talking about at ALL!
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Apr 19th 2008 1:55AM
uh huh. Too bad you're wrong. Amd after completely reading your post, I'm convinced you're just a sad little troll.
While not as good as the first game, Condemned 2 is still damn fun.
DangerMouse @ Apr 19th 2008 3:11AM
That's one hell of an effort for a "sad little troll"!!!!

Can you let people just play it for themselves and get their own verdicts instead of putting up your opinions about it. Your opinion doesn't equal everyone elses.
born2expire @ Apr 18th 2008 11:16PM
this game sucks, i had high hopes for it after the original, but this is just garbage.
bad story, worse level design, and as said above the combat carries no weight to it, just a huge disapointment.

I've stopped trusting demos from Monolith. The one for F.E.A.R. coaxed me into buying the game, which is the worst game I've put in my Xbox, Condemned 2 being the second. And I've play Sonic the Hedgehog ('06)! F.E.A.R. sucked, and just like Zero Punctuation said, Condemed 2 was good up until the [60%] mark. After that it's all guns and stupid crap. This game calls for a remake. Enough with the F.E.A.R. crap Monolith! Condemned still scares me! Condemned 2 and F.E.A.R. didn't scare me once.
Correction, the crappy graphics in F.E.A.R. scared me a little. What, was the game built for the Playstation?
Kokomadeta @ Apr 19th 2008 1:21AM
Oh yeah, check out my blog on 1up.com for more details on this terrible game.

Its funny how everyone changes their opinion of a game he moment Yahtzee puts a review about it. The game is NOT bad. It has it's flaws yes, but not to the extent that some of the guys on this comment page are saying. It's definitely worth a rental. Aside from all that, the ending of the game was bad when compared to the original condemned.

I'm about 2/3 of the way through the game after picking it up for $35 at GameCrazy last week. The original is better overall and scarier, but the sequel has better fighting and CSI.
In the full game you can adjust the light if its too dark for you and there are checkpoints, which I hear where problems in the demo.
While I agree with Justin about the guns, which kind of ruined parts of the game for me, I'm loving the melle combat and the rest of the weapons are perfect.
This game solidly deserves the 8/10 IGN gave it.

The game is pretty damn good. Didn't play the first. Check out the demo. If you like the melee and atmosphere, pick it up (or rent it, it's not that long). It has crazy atmosphere and just a negative dread to the whole thing. The criticism's of the guns are lame b/c the simple fact is you don't have to use them. Pick up a pipe instead. The guys with guns are easy to kill, there's plenty of cover. Play it how you want.
Negatives: There are quite a few - the game has some bugs, including one near the end where you don't get an action button and so you think you have to backtrack to do something to activate it, but you don't. There are lame little God of War-like button sequences in it that I never completely felt sure that I had completed or not. The game suffers from the outdated and lame as hell method of linearity, by putting objects no more than waist high that you can't get around or over, as well as hundreds of doors that never open. And lastly, the melee would simply be better in a thrid person GRAW-type view.

I don't know what to say, but after playing the demo I was even more sold on getting this game. I mean 10% with my Gamestop card and another 25% with this coupon? Sold.
Harlet @ Apr 20th 2008 6:57PM
I had more fun giving lollipops to children!

Agree with some of the comments though, guess this is another example of a demo not living up to the final game...

I played through the original and loved it, but ironically I hated the ending to it. I thought it broke down when it became less realistic and more supernatural. Anyone else feel that way about the original?
