Guess what? Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe!

Well we were right, the next Mortal Kombat title will indeed feature DC comics characters. Officially titled Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe the game was confirmed at Midway's Las Vegas event, and included a single piece of teaser art featuring a certain dark winter's knight and a more traditional MK frozen fighter. Not much is known at this time, but now that it's officially official, let the nerdy character speculation begin!

Who knows? If this is anything over the top like Marvel Vs Capcom 2, without the stupid unrelated backgrounds (MvC 1 was much better in this regard) this could be really cool. Hellboy versus Goro?

The only level that made sense where the ones created specifically for the new characters, the Desert for Amingo and the Pirate Ship for Ruby Heart. The carnival and other shit really just suck. I miss Doctor Wiley's Lab (or was it Captain America's headquarters?) from the first game!

well, that certainly would require kombat v. dark horse, sooo, no.

So...how does any fight with Superman last more than three seconds?

It's a parody of Batman Begins, DK2, and All Star Batman and Robin, so I suppose it's funnier if you've seen the character seriously portrayed as a dick.

I don't know, I thought it was pretty funny. The pictures of Bale's face and postures matched up awesomely with the dialog. Of course, I'm easily amused and not as high brow as the average person who reads through the comments on an article about Mortal Kombat vs. Comic book characters.

Fatality ideas:

1. Batman: Turns into a bat and eats opponent.
2. Wonder Woman: Squeezes opponent to death with her lasso.
3. Joker: Drops a safe on opponent's head.
4. Superman: Coughs.
5. Robin: Pleasures male fighters until they have a heart attack. Wont touch female fighters.

Way to go Midway. ****ing idiots...

I can't wait for the Beck soundtrack filled film, directed by Richard Linkletter and Starring the entire cast of little miss Sunshine....

The DC universe is gay with the exception of the Darknight.

Superman is impractical for any game and Wonderwomen, green lantern, the flash and Aquaman are all fags.

Hey guys come on. Clear your minds and think of when Capcom first thought of Marvel vs. Capcom. On paper imagine how silly it looked when someone wrote down we can have Incredible Hulk versus Zangief. All of us know that if Incredible Hulk and Zangief were to fight the Hulk could turn him into paste with one direct hit....hell a slap even. When the game came out though it was boss.

So please let's keep our minds open. Superman could be the new final boss and even if he is not come on people it's a videogame...based on a comic book series. Writers can write stories to make things make sense that's what videogame story designers and comic book story designers do.

I see mad potential DC characters that would make good in a MK game.

the only difference is that Capcom has CONSISTENTLY made good fighters leading up to MvC2. So while the idea was silly, the gameplay was executed nicely.

MK on the other hand has gone down the shitter since Trilogy, and every game after that has been increasingly worse than the one before it. Armageddon was just putrid garbage.

also, rumor has it this mortal kombat will have little blood, and no fatalities.

its basically a DC game with some MK characters thrown in since very few original fighters will be present.

On the brightside, Batman.

Don't be quick to write this one off. In actuality, the gritty and hard-hitting style of the DC Comics is actually quite suited to an equally dark universe in the vein of Mortal Kombat. Batman is an edgy character, very multi-layered, not always the "good guy" per-se. And let's not forget the collage of villanry he contends with, the likes of Joker (who was almost completely misinterpreted from the comics by the original movie) Penguin and Poison Ivy. Each could make for interesting characters in this style of play.

Agreed, fighting Superman may well be a bit stupid, seeing as he is the man of steel and basically only has one weakness, kryptonite. But bare in mind, we're dealing with a ninja that can shoot bolts of ice out of his hands, a ninja whose head turns into a lizard and gulps up the heads of his opponents and a man with two metallic arms that can pound others into oblivion.

This is a HUGE gamble by Midway! And they certainly have some thick competition this year in the fighting field, but if Soul Caliber can get away with Star Wars, then I guess Midway think they can get away with an array of comic book characters.

I'm keeping open minded about this one. Could be the surprise hit of them all.

WOW i've been a long time fan since Mortal Kombat 1 and this is just STUPID!!!!!! Midway just lost my cash for this game..and I was lookin forward to a Next gen MK game too...this sucks!

O yea, this game is going to be kickass.

superman's weaknesses include kryptonite and magic, so i suppose one could argue that the MK fighters all have magical powers, thus they
are able to have even an inkling of a chance against the MOS. even then, they'd have to be laced in a light kryptonite shield or something.

it's pretty ridiculous if you think about it.

maybe if it were MK versus mortal DC characters (u know, since they're all MORTAL) the gameplay wouldn't seem as ridonkulous. i could see that working better.

you know what pisses me off? they were supposed to get rid of the old mortal kombat characters and replace them with new ones... what happened to that plan?

to be completely honest, i've gotten tired of them... i think the game is in dire need of change, and i really dont thin that dc characters is the way to go... i was really looking forward to an all new chararacter roster, and now i dont think i'm going to get this game...

and am i the only person in the world who doesnt like dc comics any more? the characters dont appeal to me any more...

damn, this is as bad as star wars characters in the new soul calibur... another franchise that they should let die in peace...

Actually Boon said only a handful of characters would live to see the next game. I never read anything about making new characters. A handful, say 15-20 of the 64 or so characters they have will likely be in the new game. I think we all just misinterpreted what he was saying.

Considering the DC Universe has never had a good fighting game, I'm pretty excited about this one. Let's just hope it's got some jiggle tech in there for Wonder Woman.

Not to Nerd it all up too much but...

Take superman to Outworld.

Have him not have Access to the Earth Sun.

Watch Superman become a Wuss, or at the very least Much weakened.

So if you REALLY need a reason that Superman wouldn't just skull hump the entire MK crew to death upon round 1, well there you go.

I'm not much into the fighting games, but this could be fun, just to use the DC characters.

Just hit Superman with some fucking kryptonite and see how tough he is.

and what would Batman's finisher be? he technically doesn't kill people.

I guess playing as the Joker would be great. and Lobo would be right up this alley.
