Ed Boon, executive producer for Mortal Kombat, says, "Players will now be able to answer the question: what would happen if Batman fought Sub Zero?" It's an interesting question to think about now, but we're pretty confident that up until 24 hours ago -- when news of this game first started leaking out -- that pairing never came up in a "Picard vs. Kirk" style geek-off. We're sure to learn a lot more about this non M-rated version of Mortal Kombat at E3. For now, philosophically speaking, if a Mortal Kombat game doesn't have fatalities, is it still Mortal Kombat?

Batman turning into Adam West, and dancing.
Do you know how cool would that be hell even without "Chacarron Macarron" the Batwist is still epic sh*t.
Seriously bring back the Friendships and the babalities.
I hope they do a good job of rewriting the fighting engine, and it would be nice to have something to fill the void of Marvel vs. Capcom...but a Mortal Kombat game without blood and gore is hardly a Mortal Kombat game at all.

If there was ever a game idea that deserved to be shot on site its this...
This is just so wrong...in so many ways. It just shouldn't exist and the fact that Midway thinks this is a worthy endeavor speaks volumes of how stupid the company has become.

The difference here, of course, is that Capcom has a tried and true fighting engine that they've pretty much adhered to for years on end. Yeah, different rules were tweaked, but at the core, it's still that familiar CPS style gameplay.
Midway always changes the fighting engine. ALWAYS. MK and MK2 were the most alike, and then you MK3/UMK/MKT had the same engine, then MK4 and its revisions had another engine, then the straight to console versions had yet another engine.
Now this thing is gonna come along, and what are they going to base it on? Not to mention, this would definitely be an explosion of characters. MvC2 had an explosion of characters, and face it, most people only use about a third of that roster. 30 MK characters and an additional 30 DC universe characters would be ridiculous.
I'd be for fatalities if they were moves that could be performed when the health is at a certain level. If the move KOs the opponent, you get the fatality. If not, it's a whiff.
Can we just get TMNT Tournament Fighters: Second Round and call it a day?
