To answer your philosophical question: no. Absolutely not.

I hope they do a good job of rewriting the fighting engine, and it would be nice to have something to fill the void of Marvel vs. Capcom...but a Mortal Kombat game without blood and gore is hardly a Mortal Kombat game at all.

The gimmick's been overused too many times. Maybe if they focused on making an interesting fighting game rather than putting their effort into "teh bl00d" (which is in everything now, unlike 1992), they might have a more popular franchise.

Stop making shitty Mortal Kombat games Midway. The only reason you sell MK anymore is because your marketing isn't complete shit like the MK games.

Lame duck is lame.

Just watched the trailer...

If there was ever a game idea that deserved to be shot on site its this...

This is just so wrong...in so many ways. It just shouldn't exist and the fact that Midway thinks this is a worthy endeavor speaks volumes of how stupid the company has become.

I asked this last time, but didn't get an answer. What did any of this have to do with noob.com's cryptic message? I don't remember mentions of anything in it that lead me to believe there would be a crossover Mortal Kombat game.

I gotta laugh at how much faith people in this thread have for Midway. The same Midway that hasnt made anything worth playing since the 90s. That said, Boon is the only reason Midway isnt putting up a going out of business sign, so if anybody can manage not to make a crappy Midway game its him.

Well, X-Men vs. Street Fighter/MvSF/MvC/MvC2 definitely set the precedent.

The difference here, of course, is that Capcom has a tried and true fighting engine that they've pretty much adhered to for years on end. Yeah, different rules were tweaked, but at the core, it's still that familiar CPS style gameplay.

Midway always changes the fighting engine. ALWAYS. MK and MK2 were the most alike, and then you MK3/UMK/MKT had the same engine, then MK4 and its revisions had another engine, then the straight to console versions had yet another engine.

Now this thing is gonna come along, and what are they going to base it on? Not to mention, this would definitely be an explosion of characters. MvC2 had an explosion of characters, and face it, most people only use about a third of that roster. 30 MK characters and an additional 30 DC universe characters would be ridiculous.

I'd be for fatalities if they were moves that could be performed when the health is at a certain level. If the move KOs the opponent, you get the fatality. If not, it's a whiff.

Can we just get TMNT Tournament Fighters: Second Round and call it a day?

I'm all for fatalities, but the bad news is they said no fatalities, but rather "Finishing moves".I'm just hoping they change that, better late than never.Reason why there will be no fatalities is supposidly dc comics will not allow their characters to be killed. But instead I think its gonna be one of those super move kinda things with this game. But like I said, its still early and hopefully they will change their minds and put in fatalities

If there are no fatalities then this will be the first ever Mortal Kombat game that I won't want to play. I'm fine with them adding DC's characters, but without fatalities, what is Mortal Kombat? Just people in costumes throwing punches and kicks. I love the fatatlities. I love Mortal Kombat. WITH FATALITIES!!! Without fatalities, this is just Mortal. Not Mortal Kombat, just Mortal.
