Y'know, just the other day we were saying to ourselves that it seemed like forever since we'd heard a new report of a Microsoft gaming power supply causing a fire. Well, we can't say that anymore, because KTHV is reporting that Little Rock Fire Department Captain Jason Weaver fingered an Xbox 360 power supply as the source of a house fire Monday.
Thankfully no one was hurt in the fire, which did $10,000 worth of damage to the house, but we're a little concerned that it was an Xbox 360 that allegedly caused the fire. Isn't the original Xbox supposed to be the one with the spark-generating, recall-spawning power supply? We thought the Xbox 360's heat problems were usually limited to inside the system (sorry, we had to go there).

It's the damn morons fault for not giving these things the proper ventilation they need. This is another example of the stupidity that is killing our country.
A month later, the moron is gonna probably sue Microsoft or say the system sucks blah blah. If ether happens...I get credit for it.

"It was melted and it looked like they had it against the wall in on edge and things like that need a little space to dissipate heat" - Jason Weaver, Fire Department Captain
Title should say "Improperly stored Xbox 360 PSU cited in Little Rock fire"

The key is to keep the power supply liquid cooled. I have mine in gasoline to keep it extra chilly.

"Other recommendations are to avoid bending the cords and store the units some place other than the floor to cut down on friction."
Friction? so was the kid sliding the power chord back and forth or what... I mean the system and adapter are STATIONARY OBJECTS!

@el serpiente: yeah it's actually an exclusive Xbox feature for rockband and guitar hero... when you're rocking out as hard as you can it automatically assists with some pyrotechnic display, last I heard the PS3 had a similar feature, apparently it starts functioning like a disco ball for SingStar when you are singing Britney Spears' Toxic and Avril Lavigne's Complicated...
Yeah I like the pyro display better.

The power cord on my orginal Xbox went bad (the one with the surge protector that replaced the original fire-hazard cords). So I call Xbox like it says on the cord and it takes forever to get anyone who knows anything about the orginal Xbox. So they say they'll send me a new cord. A couple days later I get two seperate packages, both with the orginal fire hazard cords. Apparently Microsoft is trying to burn my house down.

Anything plugged into the wall has the potential to cause a fire. Things break. Accidents happen. Not news.
