If you've played Oblivion, can you see how they could be able to make a demo out of it? It's the exact same thing with fallout, you can't taste enough with a demo.

Well oblivion had a demo (for the pc). Fallout could do it too. Any game can do it. Its just an excuse developers give because they fear a demo will hurt their product. If your game truly is the shit, then a demo will only showcase its awsomeness.
And the fact that you HAVE heard of fallout captnink means your the one living in the cave lol (with an internet connection :p). Go ask your parents, or any random person on the street if they have heard of fallout and I bet they will all say no.

Never heard of it?? You must either be new to gaming, or have had your head in the sand or mainly play mario cart not to have at least heard of this game. You won't buy it because there is no DEMO??? That's just plain moronic reasoning....

moronic reasoning? You must be in financial debt. Do you buy every game thats released? Think before you type. A demo is to try a game and see if you will enjoy it or not. Is it unresonable to want to play a demo of the 3rd game in a series you never heard of instead of rushing out to buy it when you know nothing about it?

Yes, I'm sure that if I ask my parents (who are in their late 60's and non-gamers) or random people on the street (who are also probably non-gamers) they wouldn't know what the hell I'm talking about.
Gamers, on the other hand, would know exactly what I'm talking about.
So the question remains, how come you haven't heard of it? :D

So your saying only gamers will know something? Well perhaps you could explain to me a little about fallout history. perhaps your could start with what consoles its been on. My console gamine has been as followed - Nes - SNES - n64 - gamecube -late xbox (halo 2) - xbox 360. Unless the games have appeared on one of those systems, or they are huge games talked about everywhere like metal gear solid, devil may cry etc etc, ive never heard of them.
Regardless if ive heard of game x or not doesnt change the fact that you made a retarded comment about living in a cave for not knowing about a niche product.
Perhaps I should start listing off a bunch of video games I have played, books ive read or movies ive watched until you have not heard of one and claim your out of touch with the rest of society.

Hardly a niche product.
And I don't have time to write an entire list for you. You obviously have enough time on your hands, so I will point you to Wikipedia and bid you "good day".

Yeah I just read up on wikipedia and it says it was released for the PC (Fallout 1 and 2). No wonder I never heard of them. There are thousands of PC games that have sequels as well. Unless your a pc gamer, there is no way you would of heard of these games.
I even just went on msn now and asked a bunch of my friends who paly games. Most own xbox 360 and ps3. Out of 6 people, 0 had heard of the fallout series. These games are just too old (1997 and 1998) to be known as popular. During those years any pc gaming discussion amongst me and my friends was only about warcraft 2 and starcraft. Games which could use onboard video at the time just fine to play.
The whole point im trying to get across here is that the fallout series is not some halo/Resident Evil/Doom/final fantasy series of legendary games. To excpect everyone to have heard of it is just absurd.

I've heard of fallout and was never a pc gamer...i find it odd that you haven't...perhaps i'm older than you because this game was pretty popular in it's hay day.

No demo. No buy.
Just kidding. This is like Gears or GTA... you just know it's going to be good, you just buy it.
Any new IP should have a demo... THAT would be nice.

Bethesda + Cool IP = a purchase. Those guys make games just the way I like them, and the Fallout IP is a slick take on RPG elements. I am thinking this will be a day one purchase.

Wow a collection of ramblings if ever I saw one.
Having played the other fallout games I'll be buying this regardless of there being a demo or not.
For those who haven't played any of the fallout games (which frankly isn't too surprising as Fallout isn't actually that well known a game unless you where a PC RPG gamer in the 90s) I'd encourage you to either buy it and hope you like it or rent it first. Also for those who haven't played Fallout but have seen the Mad Max films, think what Mad Max would be as a game (a good one) and then go buy Fallout 3 :D
I do think that a demo would entice people to buy Fallout 3 though, I bought Fallout 1 on the strength of it's demo which was a slice of a much larger game.

Big name titles rarely have demos before their release, so this is no surprise.
It's also not a big deal to me- I have very good memories of playing the first Fallout all those years ago (on my pentium, I recall), and can't wait to see what they do with this iteration.
