Four classic Interplay Sega Genesis games are en route to the Wii's Virtual Console. Dave Perry's classic platformers Earthworm Jim and Earthworm Jim 2 will both be gracing the download service, along with the campy claymation action of Clayfighter, and the gross-out humor of Boogerman.
According to the press release, all four titles will be the Sega Genesis versions of the games, despite having appeared on both Genesis and SNES. No word yet on when these titles we be released (but we're guessing it'll be on a Monday).

Altouhg... I prefer a WiiWare version... I hope they starting to release classic games with updated graphics, like Dr. Mario.
And you would have both options... VC or WiiWare...

This is good news except for the fact I have hardly any effin room on my internal memory ... I really want them to release Killer Instinct on the VC ... Clayfighter was an awesome game and pretty revolutionary for it's time and Earthworm Jim will always be a classic ... So will James Pond & Gex ... Great games ... Anyone else have a Turbo Grafix 16? ... Kadash & Bonk Whuuuuut ... Fav Atari game has to be Grog where your on that stone unicycle ... classic

But the Super NES version was superior.
At least in sound, if I recall.

I was wondering about that, too.
Oh, well. I just tracked down both 1 and 2 for Super NES for about $12 each, so I'm good.

At least the Genesis version is easier to play. The camera is pulled back more on the Genesis version. EWJ isn't as detailed as the SNES version, but you can see more of the stage at a time. Thus, you have more time to react to something coming at you. The submarine stage is much easier in the Genesis version because of this.

Anyone remember a SNES about a slime or a ball, that looks like Slime from Dragon Quest, but it's not an RPG... it's a platformer.
Don't remember the name =(

The Sega Genesis version of Earthworm Jim has one more level than the SNES version... and incidentally is the one I remember so that's cool for me.

One extra level > 4 colors your eye probably can't detect anyway.

Licensed games used to be very good:
Ducktales, Chip & Dale, The Lion King, Mickey Magical Quest (I loved that game)...

Darkwing Duck deserved better. I remember it being a very bad Mega Man clone.

With exception of The Lion King, those games you listed, Fernando, were by Capcom. Which partially explains why licensed games used to be good (the other explanation for good licensed games was Konami: Simpsons arcade, TMNT aracde, etc.).
Damn, the Lion King was really hard to play when it first came out (I would've been... 10? 11? at the time). Never did beat it. Now I feel the urge to play it again.

Earthworm Jim, awesome. I've been trying to get into this game over the past year or two, it seems good, but I don't have my own copy so I am limited to how much I play with friends.
Clayfighter, on the other hand, has issues. Sure it's wacky, but its fighting engine/balance is somewhat... abysmal.

dindt I just read the other day somthing about Earthworm jim coming to XBLA updated? I would deffenitly be interested in that.
A direct port of the game? bah, wii can keep that. Im not paying for a rom dump.
Wii needs to stop releaseing crapy ports and start putting out updated versions of old games like XBLA does.
