No, 2008 is the year of the card games. That's all that will be released from now on. :D
Man, I guess they are releasing all of the crap games this month. Everyone is afraid of GTA. I just want Schizoid.

This is one of those releases that really comes down to how you perceive the value of $10.
The actual card game is $20, and you get the physical cards. Downside is you have to find people to play with.
Brettspiel allows you to play the game for free with people from all over the world, but no ability to play against the computer.
Now Live gets it and will allow you to play with your friends, strangers, as well as the A.I. (I'm assuming) Plus you can sit on the couch instead of at the PC! :)
The mechanics are quite simple (you can literally play a game in about 10 minutes), and if you enjoy two player card games, it's definitely worth playing.

Get ready for MAJOR ADDICTION. Lost Cities is the best 2 player designer card game out there.
Oh, and it costs $19 on the shelf.

You say "just announced" like if it was very recent o_O

This is undoubtedly the best card game I've ever played. It has simple rules but evokes exceedingly deep strategy--plus the girlfriend loves it. I only hope they keep the rad art and add some chill tunes.

It's not clear: does it support local multiplayer? Yeah I could just break out the cards which I happen to have, but sometimes, it's easier to play the video version of a game.

Of course not. Do you show your cards to your opponent when playing live?

You know, games like Madden have ways of hiding selections from another local player. It is possible.
