You can't even stream video from you're PC or play it from a storage device when Live is down. Why do you have to be signed into Live just to do that? Shouldn't whatever media update that is required already be stored on my hard drive? I'm sorry, but Live should never be down for this long if MS wants it as such an all-encompassing service.

Well, I work nights, so I'm usually asleep between 9am and 5 pm (GMT).
But good old X-Box/Microsoft have gone and decided to put the servers down right in between 2 of my nights off.
So I guess I better go do some house work, and what-not.

I'm a home student.
All started In west philadelfia were I was born and raised
On the playground where I spent most of my days
Chilling out, maxing, relaxing all cool
And all shooting some b-ball outside of the school
When a couple of guys said were up in no good
Started making trouble in my neighbourhood
I got in one little fight and my mom got scared
And said,well you know the rest...

you are such a liar! There is no way to play games without XBL. Without XBL there are no pop ups to show you who just signed on (who doesnt love that beautiful pop up sound). How could i play not knowing what my friends are playing and reading through the ridiculous messages they send me.

Just a guess but I bet this planned outage is to make sure the servers will be able to handle the onslaught of online gaming that will occur with the release of GTAIV.
So they won't have another unplanned outage like the one around Christmas.

it's 1:10EST... and xbox.com is allowing me to sign in... I'm guessing live is up, and their guess was accurate this time! I was at lunch so I don't know if they hit 1, but 10min is still far better than previous times.

is anyone having problems with staying connected to xbox live? I can connect for about 5 seconds until my dashboard stops loading and then i'm diconnected.

I am having the same problem. When I get to the dashboard and it says I signed in and have like x amount of friends online, it disconnects me. I wana play halo 3 :( lol

Well, it is 2:00pm here in California and I can't stay logged on. I can enter the dashboard and talk to friends, but get immediately disconnected when trying to connect to any matches.

its 8:30 here in california, i sign in and get booted off, put halo in and signs me on, but cannot connect to any games. i put frontlines fuel of war in and it says no matches!!
