So, we're all in agreement then. Currently hard at work on the European version of We Love Golf (for Wii, natch), the folks at Camelot have told Eurogamer that they rather like the idea of bringing Golden Sun, a popular series of role-playing games for the Game Boy Advance, to Nintendo's DS. "It would be great, wouldn't it!" said the seemingly excitable Hiroyuki and Shugo Takahashi. "We want to play that game too, just as much as you. We love Golden Sun!"
The brothers also noted that the RPG genre is one they definitely plan on revisiting in the future, with their thoughts already wrapped around "RPG stuff." Said the Takahashi brothers: "Camelot is an RPG maker. We don't think that we'll ever quit making RPGs."

Golden Sun was awesome. I wish I wouldn't have sold my copy, I spent a lot of hours on that game.

I think I'd rather have it for the DS, that way they can implement a dual cartridge thing and I wouldn't have wasted all that time getting my team to level 99.

They should make it for psp as well so I don't have to waste money on another DS.

As to why you sold your DS is just insane. It's blasphemy!

I said "as well" meaning both. I sold the DS cause it pretty much became a mini wii to me with nothing to play on it. This would definitely be something though.

I point you at Isaac in Brawl. I then more clearly point out Golden Sun is a first party title totally owned by Nintendo; and that Camelot usually works as a second party to Nintendo but had gone with Capcom on this since Nintendo wasn't ready for Mario Golf and it allowed Camelot to branch out.

You can complain everything you want about the Wii... yes, most of the third party games are crap.
But bashing the DS for the lack of good games is just plain stupid. Its currently the system with the most RPG's, the biggest third party support...
You can find extremely casual games to extremely hardcore gamers. It has the support of Capcom, Namco, Square, Atlus, Treasure... heck, even from Microsoft and Rare.
It has the best selection of RPGs, and platformers... bashing the DS is just plain dumb.

It's the handheld I would go to if I wanted to play casual games and FF remakes, but I don't want to. I want to play something that will hold my interest for longer than an hour and doesn't make me feel like a little kid back when people thought of games as kids toys.
To quote epic, I want to go forward as I get older, not backwards.

I loved the original Golden Sun. A great hybrid of puzzle-solving and classic turn-based role-playing. Although some of the dialogue was painfully annoying, since it was so slowly-paced and you couldn't skip through it. This and Mario Tennis for the GBC are definitely my two favorite Camelot games.
Make this happen, Camelot! Don't make me sick my djinn on you.

Speaking of dialogue...
Squeak squeak squeak squeak?
(lower-pitched) Scree scree scree scree.
Always made me think of cleaning windows while I was playing.

I just beat Golden Sun and entered in my massive 6 page code into The Lost Age last weekend. Picked up both about 3 weeks ago, when the rumors picked up again, because I overlooked them for some reason during the GBA days. Needless to say I'm really enjoying it. GS3 for 2009!

Dude, Mario Tennis on GameBoy Color, yes. Best tennis game ever. Heck, probably best GameBoy game ever. I used to play that game for hours and hours on end when I was a kid, and I found the cartridge last year and played it again and it was just as amazing as I remembered it.
As for a new Golden Sun, I have a lot of friends that would be ecstatic about it. I owned the first one and I got pretty far into it, but for some reason I never beat it, and for that reason I never bought Lost Age. I really wanted Isaac to be playable in Brawl, though, and not stuck as an (admittedly pretty badass) assist trophy.

Most likely my favourite GBA game. They have my money if they're making it for the DS.
PS: RPG makers, maybe, but they still made Mario Golf and Tennis. ;P

I never finished the second one either. The opening dialogue was like 15 min long so whenever I tried to play it I put it down and forgot about it.

Wow, I thought that I was the only person in the world who played this game and then my co-workers were telling me how much they liked it just the other day and now I see all the comments here from people who liked it. I never played the second game 'cause I didn't have any friends with a gameboy that I could use to transfer my stuff across games...

Golden Sun was amazing, I'm surprised you don't know more people who played it. Maybe you didn't have enough gamer friends at the time.

Link cables are for pansies. Real men copy the ~150-character passwords from their GBA to their computer, letter-by-letter, triple-check that, then copy it back to their GBA, letter-by-letter, then go back through it letter-by-letter trying to figure out which of the 150 characters you inputted incorrectly, then scrap all that work and check that you typed the password properly on the computer once more, then re-input those ~150 characters once more. What an hour of fun to be had! Trust me, after the third time, it's almost too much fun to handle!

Odd. This is the second time that the reply feature didn't seem to work properly. Anyways...
Seriously, Camelot needs to make this game. Now. GS1 and 2 were as fantastic as they are underappreciated. The djinn-based battle sytem was clever, the characters were wonderful, and the story was appealing. The DS would be great for the series, and I'd love to see what stylus-based psynergy Camelot can come up with.
Maybe if Camelot had gotten to it sooner, Golden Sun would have appeared in a more significant form in Brawl. Isaac as playble, with a Venus Lighthouse stage, and the Venus Lighthouse theme...

Brawl isn't out here, and I'm listening to this almost once a day. Please tell me it is there from the start. Else I'm going to unlock it as soon as I get my hands on the game.

Camelot should beat Sega over the head with Golden Sun GBA cartridges until they give them back the reins to the Shining Force franchise.
Shining Force 3 on DS? Shining Force 4 on Wii?
The universe would be incapable of containing such levels of awesome.

How does the combat play? Is it like Final Fantasy (which i've tried and tried and tried to get into but can't) or is it more like FF tactices, Frie Emblem or Chrono Trigger?
PS/ Why don't we have a Chrono Trigger DS already????

I can't wait for them to push the DS to the limit like they did with the GBA. Golden Sun was just incredible in every way.

I loved Golden Sun. They do need a DS version. GS2 was my first ever import too, couldn't wait to get hold of that game.

I quit GS at the last boss battle. I never picked up GS2. This calls for a swift revisit to the GS series and considering that GS DS isn't in production then I have enough time to revisit the series and catch up. =)

I really dug Golden Sun, even though I never actually managed to finish it. I got to what I think were the second-to-last bosses or final boss underleveled by about five or six, and for some reason couldn't grind up without sabotaging myself (not entirely sure why anymore, as it was, what, seven years ago now?). It's why I didn't bother with GS2, but to be completely honest if a DS sequel or compilation came out, I'd be all over that.
Of course, I want a Mother/Earthbound DS collection first, so I'm not holding my breath for either of those.
