There isn't much we find wrong with Connect360, the $20 media sharing app that helps your Mac play friendly with your Xbox 360. In fact, that solution is arguably preferable to the official Windows Media Player solution in Windows, so the newly released Rivet has something of an uphill battle to gather Mac OS X mindshare.
Luckily it has two advantages: unlike Connect360, Rivet replicates "the entire folder structure" on your Xbox so there will be "no more scrolling through a huge, flat list" (great if you've got a lot of music and movies); secondly, it's $1.05 cheaper. If you're interested, check out the demo and share your impressions with the rest of the class.

Pay? o_O How annoying.
Seriously, paying to be able to stream content that the mac/360 should be doing in the first place annoys me.
Not that I have a mac or anything, I just find it annoying when companies charge for things.
DON'T ARGUE! MY LOGIC IS FLAWLESS =p

I'm good with Connect360, but it's nice to know other options.
Got it free ;)

Just so no one else wastes their time (even though it really didn't take long to discover) this software doesn't work with OSX 10.4.11. Guess I'll have to stick with my copy of connect360 until I get around to buying Leopard.

The only game I still play seriously hardcore on my PC still is TF2. There hasn't been much that I've wanted to play, or had to the time. I have Crysis because it came with my 3D card, and I just bought the Epic Mega pack on Steam. All I really want now is CoD4, BioShock, Sins of a Solar Empire, and Halo Wars once it launches. My PC is always on though, it's kinda my MacBook's file server. :D

I am not happy with connect 360 lately. It hasn't worked for my for about a year, and now when I try to run it on the Linksys WRT54G, which is one of the most common routers out there, it crahses my 360 every time I go to the screen to select my network as a media source. I actually got a RROD and had to send my 360 in for repairs after restarting it from all the crashes. Though the problem could be my 360. I have a friend on a PC network who's 360 all of a sudden wouldn't browse his network anymore.

Rivet > Connect360 for one reason alone:
It recognizes FOLDER STRUCTURE. So now when I point the video files to my TV shows repository, it will display them by [TV Shows] > [Show] > [Seasons] > files instead of Connect360s uber long list of all files in [Shows].

I contacted Nullriver, the developers of Connect360, and they said they are already working on the folder structure thing for a future release.

One point goes to Rivet in that it lets me pick the folders to stream photos from. I have multiple iPhoto libraries just to keep things orderly but Connect360 only let me pick one (whichever library happened to be the default at the time). Not to mention that it wouldn't let me pick anything other than an iPhoto library.
And it seems that Rivet does the same with movies too (Connect 360 would let you pick any folder, but only one folder, though it does include subfolders).
And from my small amount of testing, Rivet seems to connect and stream the files well. I think I'm going to have to switch to Rivet.

I bought Connect360 literally a month and a half ago. And my biggest complaint was the lack of folder structure with videos. Now this app comes along and I am conflicted. I can't get my money back for Connect360, but I want Rivet so much. Why is there no "upgrade from Connect360" option like other companies sometimes do to lure over potential software buyers from competing products? You know what I mean?
The way I see it, Connect360's developer will add the folder structure feature to Connect360 soon if it cares even a slight bit about competing with Rivet.
