Forget what you might have heard, Galactic Civilization II's final expansion, Twilight of the Arnor, releases digitally April 30. There are no plans to release the title at retail and discount bundles are available of the whole Gal Civ II saga on the game's website.
The expansion adds unique tech trees for the 12 major civilizations, various new ships and weapons, a new victory condition called "Ascension" and various game tweaks. So, prepare to "finish the fight" April 30 ... wait, that might already be trademarked.

The expansions have changed the fundamental gameplay in a few areas, and I find they actually make the core game a lot more interesting. If you really enjoyed the core game, the expansions are worth the added investment.

I'm holding out for Grand Theft Drengin: Terran City Stories. You get to beat a hooker to death, then eat her flesh.

I think it's definately worth it. Unique tech trees for each of the 12 major races will definatley change how the games play out. And the immense galaxy will make for some hugely epic games.
