Readers pick best webcomic: Square peg, round hole
We love the weeks when the winning game-related webcomics seem to garner the most negative comments. However, the winner is decided by votes and not naysayers, so we're giving the (digital and valued at US $0) trophy to Dueling Analogs this week.
Second and third place to go 2P Start and Funny Farm, respectively. Thanks to everyone who voted and be sure to let us know of any game-related webcomic you stumble upon this week!

Funny stuff, well-deserved win.
FSK405K @ Apr 23rd 2008 11:38PM
(Comment Leach!) Why would people be against about this comic? Must be blind PSP fanatics?
Anticrawl @ Apr 24th 2008 2:35AM
And CAD gets ripped on for having to much text. The one that won was far too drawn out and had a lot of text that didn't add a whole lot to the joke.
It was clever, but not so much funny.
JakubK666 (Ninja Defence Force) @ Apr 24th 2008 11:35AM
Yeah but there's dialogue that builds up a punchline(like in DA's case) or the absolutely useless dialogue(like 60% of CAD).
I really liked it, but I also must admit that all other strips were kinda mediocre this week.
Sam406 @ Apr 23rd 2008 9:40PM
Hate to flame, but 2pstart sucked this week.
colin17 @ Apr 23rd 2008 9:55PM
Wow! None of these comics that won were funny(Funny Farm made me chuckle a bit). I just think maybe it was a slow week.....
Korova @ Apr 23rd 2008 9:56PM
It put things in perspective.
Also useful when reading interminable console war threads.
Beatz @ Apr 23rd 2008 9:56PM
I couldn't tell what was going on in Dueling Analogs until the last two or three panels, and even then the joke was still cheesy and predictable. I usually like Dueling Analogs too.
Better luck next week.
Arteen @ Apr 23rd 2008 11:04PM
I'm sure that Dueling Analogs could have done the same joke with 10 fewer panels. I didn't think most of this week's entries were that great, but I thought Awkward Zombie was hilarious.

I love the DA does their Zelda comics. Not the best Zelda comic, but the expressions were priceless.
Here's our take one of the many typical fan reactions to a new game release:

Shmil @ Apr 24th 2008 12:40AM
You should make a comment featuring those who comment on Joystiq. Including Shmil! the ambiguous Wii60 fanboy who's desperately trying to eliminate old internet memes.
I know Shmil wouldn't be the ideal character, but Fernando or any of the other trolls could easily be turned into characters.
Sir Fidlious Wong (Zeon Defense Force) @ Apr 24th 2008 8:33AM
But you are Wii60... Yooouse de enemy BOYO!
Just kidding. I may have a few gags from time to time with that. I did decide though that when I'm doing actual game references, I have to put effort into the characters instead of doing just the sticks. Generic characters will be the sticks. I just have to find a way to make sticks interesting visually. Or should I ditch the stick idea all together and reboot the characters except keep the theme or post-its on corkboard?
Booxatron @ Apr 24th 2008 1:38PM
I really like the post-its and corkboard theme, and the relatively simple art style. I like how it looks like something you just sketched up because you were bored in class or something. The comics are getting better and better each week; keep it up, Shep!
Demaar @ Apr 24th 2008 12:22AM
Ugh, those are terrible runner ups. What the hell? I swear people just vote for their favourite comic, rather than what's actually funny.
brandon_r87 : Brawl : 4897-5857-5091 @ Apr 24th 2008 1:06AM
Contrary to the results of this poll, Dueling Analogs has never once been funny. Ever. That goes for Ctrl-Alt-Del too, which is worse.
iofthestorm @ Apr 24th 2008 1:33AM
Contrary to your beliefs, you are not the only measurement of all things funny. I thought the Dueling Analogs comic worked really well, even if it wasn't extremely funny it did make me smile when I saw the punchline. And it is pretty funny in general. Now, CAD... I suppose it's funny occasionally but it tries too hard, or something.
brandon_r87 : Brawl : 4897-5857-5091 @ Apr 24th 2008 1:50AM
I'll concede to that, but Dueling Analogs always has to resort to sexual humor or coarse language. Ctrl-Alt-Del is overly wordy and often sexist. Neither comic ever has a joke that seems clever to me.
And so you know, I realize I was being a troll when I posted that comment.
James @ Apr 24th 2008 10:14AM
"I'll concede to that, but Dueling Analogs always has to resort to sexual humor or coarse language."
"Sexual humor" on Dueling Analogs is like every 1 out of 10. And course language? Besides this comic I honestly can't remember the last time there was any swearing in the comic. Why not check your facts? Remember kids, narrow generalizations are generally from narrow-minded people.
hvnlysoldr @ Apr 24th 2008 2:01PM
I think people vote just to spite naysayers.
EBH @ Apr 26th 2008 7:50PM
I really thought the DA was a cool concept.
Now for the shameless self promotion(!):
