GTAIV release pushed to April 25? Doubt it!

Earlier in the day two letters, one supposedly from Take-Two CEO Ben Feder and the other from both Feder and Rockstar Games CEO Gary Dale, were found online claiming that Rockstar Games was changing the release date of Grand Theft Auto IV in response to the title's internet leak.

Officially, the first letter has been debunked by Rockstar Games, who maintain the release date is still April 29. However, the second letter, which appears to be even more manufactured, has yet to be denied; but we assume it too is not an official Take-Two Interactive document.

With various events planned around the globe for a midnight release, we think it's safe to assume that April 29 will be the first day you'll be able to purchase your copy of Grand Theft Auto IV.

They've got waaaayyy too much hype on the April 29th release date. There's no way they're changing it this late.

Not only that but retail stores haven't recieved their shipments. Rockstar is paranoid about players getting the game early. Most stores are worried they won't be able to meet the midnight launch because shipments will be cutting it so close.

Well I know that the gamestop that my friend works at has it. Got to hold the box but couldn't take it home :'(

Alot of stores actually have gotten their shipments. Pictures have already flooded the internets, not to mention seedy gameplay footage on youtube (the bastards, flaunting their early ownership). Obviously this thing isn't real, but imagine some idiot manager at one of the big box stores reading this...could be some opportunity for early wingets if anyone has the cajones to ask for it early. Not me though, I can wait 4 more days....somehow

That's why they were released. Print it up, take it to Best Buy, Circuit City or some other non-videogame-centered retailer and try to buy it. Worst case scenario, they don't sell it to you and you're in the same spot you were in before.

hahaha! People are crazy over this game. Maybe the person that made this tried to show it to one of those stuck up Gamestop employees to get an early copy. hahaha!

I HOPE this is true...but more likely than not, it's not. Oh, and apparently, Ben Feder has 2 radically different signatures and Rockstar/Take-Two have 2 completely different letterheads... LOL

Coming from retail management experience I know that a directive like that ordinarily like that would need to be verified by the District or Sales Manager. Don't think this one will work guys!

GTA IV is Tuesday. Midnight launches are Monday to Tuesday morning.

Oh, and while we're at it, be kind to your local Gamestop employees. Saturday to Sunday morning, many locations will be doing Midnight launches for Mario Kart Wii, so by Monday morning, most stores will be staffed by tired geeks.

I got to touch neh hold my LE copy of GTA. I had to stand in the conner like a child so i wouldnt run away but i did thanks to a loley GS employee as we talked about the leak. its heavy.

After reading the first "letter", I find it strange that whoever created it took the time to add logos and half-assed trademark information, but failed to bother to spell "separate" correctly.

Well I just went into MY local GameStop to put the rest of my money down on GTA IV and found out that they were playing it behind the counter. I called up another GameStop to get the regional Managers Phone number and then proceeded to talk to him about the two f**king D*ck Heads that were playing it. I really got pissed of when I asked him what he was playing and he told me Saints Row. What a cock. I also took pictures of them playing it. Good Luck finding another job in the Pittsburgh Area boys. Too bad you couldnt wait like the rest of us.

I really wouldn't care if they were playing it or not. But upload the pics. I wanna see them.

Good job getting them fired. They're spoiling the game for anybody who comes into the store and deserve it.

Im in the UK and have received an email from HMV that they have already posted my copy yesterday. Expected arrival was between 2-4 days. so could get it early.

What kind of release day is Tuesday anyway, is this an American thing? Friday 25th would have been a much better day to drop the game. A whole weekend of play would have been available, not a fucking working day. Lame.

For some odd reason, every Tuesday is National Media Release Day. With a little research, you could uncover the reason.

Some say its easier to track sales. Tuesdays people aren't preoccupied. If a product sales well, companies have enough time to order more supplies before the weekend. It works.

Didn't Eminem release his CD early due to it being leaked online way before release day? That would be sweet if GTA did the same.
