New Metal Gear Solid 4 trailer implies suicide, again
81
We can sense something epic is brewing here ... we're just not exactly sure what. So, anyone catch a glimpse of that so-called "child trauma" that may be pushing Snake (that is Snake, right?) to keep shoving a gun barrel in his mouth?

They need to remake the original Metal Gear games now.
I'm assuming most of you started out in the franchise with Metal Gear Solid and now the original games are just to technologically dated to really enjoy.
I'm hoping they'd remake them since they did create Snake Eater that takes place before all the games.
I'd like to see Big Boss die by a lighter in PS2 or PS3 graphics. : )
Its too bad they couldn't make Twin Snakes on PS2, many more would have enjoyed it on there than the Gamecube. Whats the point, those who played Twin Snakes would have to go to Sony to play the other games in the series anyways.

God obviously none of you got the preorder to get the beta and saga disc. If you did you would have seen the last 35 seconds of the MGS4 trailer in it with Snake holding a gun literally in his mouth.
Also this trailer and the one on the saga disc isn't too offending and it sets up so many questions that I want to find out the answers to in the game.

This looks so much more serious then previous installments (not that the others have been happy fun time) but when I watch this and try to picture Liquid's silly Leonardo Ninja Turtle voice coming out of Revolver I think that could ruin everything. Even Hayter's (sp) voice, while iconic as Mario, might seem a little over the top for this one. I really hope the American voice actors bring their A game to this, because they single handily could ruin everything.

No worries on Liquid Ocelot, Cam Clarke (Liquid in MGS1 and through the arm in 2) isn't doing the voice in this one, Pat Zimmerman (Ocelot) is doing the whole thing.
So no ott 'Brothers' line lol.

"You shouldn't even care at all because apparently he didn't give a rats behind about you or anyone else."
You make it sound so simple, when it's far more complex than that. You can't speak on the feelings unless you've felt the same way. Yeah, you might have your bad day or two, feel like shit, but that 24/7 of hopelessness that another person who can't get over it really takes a toll. Escpecialliy someone who's young sees such a bleak future. I agree with the guy above, snapping out of it is what you gotta do.

My bet: Snake will commit suicide in MGS4, maybe it'll have those "alternate endings", where he can either kill himself in the battle scene(from the old trailer) or as the one showed above(maybe after the game ends).. Because, this is the only logical way Kojima would want to finish off Snake. Seeing that Snake has this "Fight till death" character and a super weapon himself, Kojima wouldn't want him killed by any other character..
As the Japanese say - "Seppuku"(Suicide) is much more honorable than getting killed by the Enemy..
Woah! This trailer has got me pumped already.. I've *got to* order the PS3.. I'm looking at that Sony Style card trick (shaves of a 100 from the 399)..

When will we be able to pre-order the 80GB gunmetal gray PS3 MGS4 bundle ? I don't want the glossy, dust/dirt/fingerprints magnet black.

Um, the gunmetal PS3 is 40gb only.
We'll get the 40gb gunmetal PS3 and the $500 80gb black bundle with the game and a Dual Shock 3.
In fact, all the non-black models (white, silver, gunmetal), are only in 40gb flavors. : (
Sucks, I would love a 60gb white PS3. Well, I could always get someone to paint it for me (when I get one of course!)

Does Kojima know how to use color?

Kojima *does* know how to use color.. The only reason this game has a dull, sandy look is because that is the *only* color scheme that would suit the gameplay.. Or would you rather want to see Snake in a bright pink bunny suit!!??
If you want to, then you've got some issues mate..

Come on, we all know Snake's too much of a badass to go out with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He'd choke himself out with his own hands.

Nah, death by cardboard box would be more fitting lol.

I thought releasing this as a PS3 exclusive was enough of a suicide metaphor!

We have no idea whats going to happen with Kojima and his crazy mind.
Remember the trailers for MGS2 showed only Snake and we were completely caught off guard when we discovered the Plant Chapter and Raiden being in 95% of the game?

I'm hoping he pulls something like that off again, think that was where the problem with 3 came up, people needed to know that it was 'snake' (even though it was Big Boss) because of the hate they got over Raiden.
There's been a few trailers and screenshots, but the bulk of things in them have been pretty much the same footage, theres lots of little things people have been talking about (Octopus having puppets of Sorrow/Psycho Mantis, the young snake in a trailer, EVA) but no big plot twist, so I have high hopes for something.

Damn, I gotta make sure my neither my mom nor aunt see my crying. I'm 18 years old and have never ever cried watching a movie. But man, Kojima sure knows how to play with your emotions.
MGS2 nearly made me cry when you had to kill Big Boss at the end. I don't know if I can pull the trigger and kill Snake like that. I'm going to remmember this game for the rest of my life.

Also, I just noticed that it's pretty depressing that you always have to kill someone who is close to you or some how closely related to you in MGS. Now I guess all he has left is to kill himself.

The suicide looks like the beginning.
It looks like a rambo style "his life is at an end and he has nothing to live for when suddenly some general pops up and offers him a mission he can't refuse". (and probably he discovers a newfound respect for life.. thats what usually happens. )
I gotta say the MGS games make awesome trailers. The gameplay is usually highly disappointing, but they sure do have great graphics and cutscenes.
Having seen loads of awesome trailers in almost every shop in tokyo for the past 2 months I'm back at the stage where I forget the past disappointments and i want this game! I never learn.
