Maybe, if the press didn't make this public, there wouldn't be a problem as bad as it appears to be...

That is very true. It was debated to death on the other post. And will probably be debated to death on this post.... and the post about the Special Edition Soundtrack being pirated, and the post about the art book being pirated, and the post about the pirated copy hosted by Abe, and the pirated copy hosted by Ben, and the pirated copy hosted by Charlie, etc etc.

Maybe there should be a separate page about all of the different pirated copies? And there can even be links to the torrents! And make it about more than just GTA IV! And make it searchable! And... oh wait, that's mininova.....

I really do not understand people who DL and never buy anything. Sure you get stuff for free but for how long? If everyone took that attitude the industry will either jack the prices WAY up or stop producing. If a company stops making a profit they will shut down. I have no problem with DLing to preview and then buy later. I do that all the time, but to simply rip these guys off is stupid. If you love games, music and movies you need to support the creators. Be sensible. If you can afford the gear to DL stuff you can afford to pay 60$ for a really great game. Stop being greedy. Time to grow up. Pay the man!

I know I would. But there's also the issue of time stamping. They'll forever know that you played that game before its release date and potentially putting your account (and system) in danger because of a couple of days. Man, video games make the kids go batshit crazy, huh?

Quick poll...
Who here is totally against downloading games illegaly, but wont think twice about downloading tv episodes (like Lost) via torrent?

I can kind of see your point there. Although it is still illegal to download TV episodes, if you already subscribe to cable/satellite service theoretically you already have access to the content therefore you wouldn't have to pay to get it...

Well I must admit I fall into that bracket, but I download US tv shows as I love in the UK and dont want to have to wait forever to watch them, especially with a show like Lost. I think I am more against the downloading of games because I think the price we are asked to pay for them is more than reasonable. In the past DVD and CD prices were unreasonably priced and this had a huge effect on people being knowledgablly willing to break the law, but games just seem worth the money - 40 quid (uk) spent on the right game and Ive got entertainment for a good year!!!!

I have a problem paying $60 for any game. That's a huge rip off. These jokers might spend 2-10 million to develop a game and if it's good can make half a billion or more...please! I don't have a modded 360 but if I did, I would cop it via downloads. I don't think we should be paying more than $50 for any game. $40 sounds even more reasonable. More people would buy games! It's kinda like the RIAA before CDs came out, they said we were gonna have better sounding music compared to the cassette and it would be cheaper. They were right, the music was definitely more crisp but the prices went from $7 for a cassette to $20 for a cd. CDs are cheaper to manufacture than cassettes! If you don't take care of your consumers they will cannibalize you. No one forgets being used!

Give me a break, dude. For a 40 hour game & countless hours of multiplayer, $60 is very reasonable if you compare it to any other form of entertainment.

I gotta say, if I had a modded 360, I'd be downloading this too. I already purchased the game and have to wait until it arrives now.

I won't lie, I pirate some games. Games that are generally older than 6-7 years old and I can't find anymore. Call me a hypocrite (as I'm sure some of you will) but this is ridiculous. These guys have been busting their ass for years to give us this game and you are going to deprive them of their rewards? Who the hell do you think you are? It would be no different if you opened your own business and your inventory was sacked the day before opening. Buy the game you cheap asses.

I think i might download the pirate one,but still,i'm going to buy it..if it comes early here at japan..i'm so tired of waiting for several week or months for good games like saints row or sumtin else...the reason why they took so long to deliver one of those games here at japan is because they still need to mod those games, for example dirty cut scenes,or the japanese language and all that stuff..."I'M SICK AND TIRED WAITING SO LONG" ..just like today the game already came out yesterday but still the game isnt here at japan today when i came at the store to look for it....*sigh* why wont japan be as same as their original release dates...my point is "I'M GOING TO DOWNLOAD IT BUT I'M STILL GOING TO BUY THE GAME"....but as for now i'll still be waiting for gta iv till it comes out here at japan *sigh*....
