Rainbow Six Vegas 2 gets title update
Surprising no one more than ourselves, several members of the staff have been spending loads of quality time with Rainbow Six Vegas 2, so it brought us plenty of joy to see that Ubisoft recently released a title update for the 360 version of the game. No, most aren't fixes to our beloved co-op, but what does it really need? More radical? Our pants are quite soiled enough, thank you very much.
Those of you who prefer multiplayer matches can expect faster weapon switching, faster respawns and bevy of other changes that you can check out here. And if you play on the PS3, don't worry: A similar patch is in the works for you as well.

Once again 360 updates take precedence over ps3. I dont get it...
PojoMofo @ Apr 24th 2008 9:42AM
bigger install base = top priority
It will be like this until developers start realizing just how strong the PS3 in starting to become
Smoke_Dawg_187 @ Apr 24th 2008 10:02AM
Xbox 360 is the gamers console. PS3 is the gateway device to Blu-ray movies.
Of the few people that I know that actually own a PS3, they either own or simply watch more movies then they are playing games.
But then again these are the same people that think the Resident Evil movies are good.....
FrankTheCrank @ Apr 24th 2008 10:17AM
Smoke Dawg...Wut R U talkin about??? Oh my god!!!
It's called PlayStation 3, you know, from the Playstation lineup of video game systems. Ever heard of it?
360 being a "gamers console"...well, if you were to talk to Microsoft, I don't think they want to be pigeon holed into that "gamers console" you speak of. That's the sort of silly talk that caused them to stall at 24 million units with their last console. They want to be more than a "gamers console" with video downloads and waggle controllers.
If Microsoft had a choice, they would easily trade in their "gamers console" tag for what the Wii has right now, which is the "everybodies console" tag.
deaftly @ Apr 24th 2008 10:18AM
I personally use my ps3 more for movies then games, upconverted dvd's look fantastic on it. 360 is def the gaming console in the house though.
baby sea tuna @ Apr 24th 2008 10:22AM
I wish it weren't so, but you're kind of right (ugh) Smoke Dawg. I got my PS3 at Xmas and after spending the first 2 or 3 weeks playing all the good games, it's been used primarily a BRD and PS2 for me (I've also tried to surf the web a few times but it's a decidedly mixed bag).
Still I got it mainly for MGS4, LBP, and Infamous, so until then, I don't really mind using it mostly as a hi-def movie player. Now if I didn't have a 360 to play games on, it might be a different story...
FrankTheCrank @ Apr 24th 2008 11:31AM
I'm this close to getting a 360 ->
FrankTheCrank @ Apr 24th 2008 11:32AM
That's weird, my message got cut off.
I'm this close to getting a 360.
I feel like I missed out.
I just hope Microsoft announces something about NEW HARDWARE soon and drops the price. I don't want to be a victim.
I just can't ignore any longer.

This game is so bad, and Ubi is such a bad developer/publisher that they make EA look good.
This game never should have been released in the shape that it was; what could have been a great game is practically DOA due to launch bugs. By the time they fix everything, everybody will be playing something else.
MarkHawk @ Apr 24th 2008 9:55AM
I was disappointed with the final result. All the core parts are there. But held up next to the Customize character, weapon details (all details) and animations makes some parts of the game feel unfinished. Enemy pop in placement, level feel very abandoned, and worst for me was the story. It just didn't stack up to RSV1. I like the added options for all areas of Multiplayer but I would of wish we could of waited till summer 08 for this. Could of been better but I'm okay with what I have.
baby sea tuna @ Apr 24th 2008 10:26AM
I don't understand how they could release this as a full priced game, since it's basically an expansion pack that actually removed features that made the first one so damn good (4-player co-op, most noticably).
I'm sure I'll pick it up one day when I can get it for $25 or so, but definitely not at $60!
PojoMofo @ Apr 24th 2008 10:39AM
I too wont pick this up until it hits the bargain bin, just like most Tom Clancy games for me. I just picked up GRAW 2 from best buy last week for $20. It was worth $20...but not much more.
G-Anderton @ Apr 26th 2008 5:26PM
I don't understand the praise this game gets, nor why anyone would willingly "spend loads of quality time" with it, it's like an awful version of the first vegas...
jaybird1905 @ Apr 24th 2008 10:00AM
Another win for XBL.
Steve @ Apr 24th 2008 10:02AM
Fucking fanboys can't let anything go. 260 will get it first because it's far ahead of PS# in user base. Deal with it and go get ready for Home. Oh wait, never mind.
baby sea tuna @ Apr 24th 2008 10:27AM
You might want to get your "3" key checked out there, buddy.
PojoMofo @ Apr 24th 2008 10:41AM
the "3" key is the one between the 2 and the 4.
Professor Lario @ Apr 24th 2008 10:19AM
Now if they would fix the awful spawning in T-hunt...
Donald @ Apr 24th 2008 10:42AM
And add fist-pounding.
Brodie-san @ Apr 24th 2008 12:44PM
Steve? Pot, meet kettle. Nice to meet you.
Ninjakamster @ Apr 24th 2008 10:53AM
Not surprising, the 360 has a larger install base than the PS3, it gets more attention from developers, I don't blame them. It is also easier to develop for.
Hate to be a pessimist, but I am surprised they are giving the patch to us PS3 owners as well.
Its a truth, we are the afterthought in developer's minds in cross platform development.
The gap is closing but it is still there but I can't blame the developers either.
The PS2 was hard to develop for but when its install base got so high, developers would be crazy to ignore it.
Vcize @ Apr 24th 2008 10:58AM
Maybe they were able to spend time working on this patch for the 360 while they were still working on the PS3 patch to get the online part of the game to work at all after its borked release on the PS3.
deaftly @ Apr 24th 2008 11:08AM
I thought you didn't own a PS3 yet Ninjak?
Ninjakamster @ Apr 24th 2008 2:26PM
I will buy one next month after final exams.
I have absolutely no self-control and will fail all my finals if I buy a PS3 now. I know its sad. : D
Vcize @ Apr 24th 2008 10:56AM
Cue joke about this update containing more new stuff than the entire R6V2 release.
I love the game, but someone had to say it ;)
Sinnix @ Apr 24th 2008 11:14AM
This is the fasted turn-around I've ever seen for Ubisoft to get a patch out. Usually it takes them months up months. Nice work Ubi, and THANK YOU!
Sinnix @ Apr 24th 2008 11:15AM
fasted = fastest *sorry*
ThePremierAssassin @ Apr 24th 2008 11:16AM
LOLZ...

I am finally getting the 120 GB PS3 when it comes out (and trust me, it is coming) but I must confess the most compelling reason is because I am ready to update my film collection--which ironically I have been trading in towards credit for 360 games.
360 is the Gamer's console... for now. Xbox Live, exclusive DLC, first consideration for patches, head start on software library and developer's programming has turned out to be quite an advantage for Microsoft.
I want Sony to do well. Online new gen Tekken and Twisted Metal would be a step in the right direction. Appeal to the core Sony fans... bring back IPs that are exclusive to the console, and don't bang the blu-ray drum so loudly--it reeks of desperation. Technological specs mean much less then they used to-cite 3d0, Turbografx etc for previous casualties.
And the Wii? Huge install base. Cute games. Wii Fit looks interesting but quality 3d party support (NOT party games) needs to hit by end of this fiscal year. There's only so many party games the new market (moms, girlfriends, wives and grandparents) is willing to buy before saturation becomes a factor ala NES. Still, the price point during a recession is beyond shrewd. Why don't I have one? Yep, just like Sony, the game selection.
We'll see what happens. Metal Gear Solid is going to be BEYOND huge--until Gears 2 comes back and rebalances the table again. If Madden excels on PS3 vs 360, (hard to believe but hoping) it'll be the first multi platform game I'll bite on in favor of Sony.

waggle controllers? cough sixaxis cough...oh wait thats right sony beat the hell out of our minds with this new concept and decided hey our concept and product sucks so lets just go back to the old concept and ditch support of the shitty product we bashed into every1s brains a year ago and pretend nothing ever happened...MS doesnt wish anything, they dominate the console wars with software selling so im pretty sure they are happy
crzygamer208 @ Apr 24th 2008 1:27PM
oh also if you click the link to go to ubisofts forums and see the list of things they've fixed, most of it isn't fixed and the community hates them for having random spawns in TDM, and they are calling it random chaos and COD4 clone, no tactical shooting anymore without team spawning etc etc..haha way to go ubi..PHAIL
John @ Apr 24th 2008 1:29PM
"Those of you who prefer multiplayer matches can expect faster weapon switching"
This is why the delay for PS3, it's faster to fix weapon switching on the 360 because it isn't done in "real time"
Lakewell @ Apr 24th 2008 3:40PM
To get back to discussion, instead of console numbers, this update does some good stuff. But it also does some very bad stuff. The multiplayer is still glitchy in some places, and they've ruined Team Deathmatch by incorporating random respawns.
Seems like some people complained about people camping the spawn, but Rainbow has always been like that. I doubt this mode will be played as much competitively in MLG. It should be an option for the host to turn random respawns on or off. Thank goodness GTA is right around the corner.
