It's about time. Nintendo Europe has released its second fiscal quarter release schedule and finally pinpointed a release date for Smash Bros. Brawl: Friday, June 27. By then, US gamers will have enjoyed the game for over three months, and Japanese gamers for six months. At least you got Mario Kart Wii first, right?
Nintendo also announced that WiiWare will launch May 20, just 8 days behind the US. The Nintendo Channel, which will allow you to download DS demos and game trailers, is coming May 30. Mark your calendars, Smash Bros. Brawl is now only 64 days away.

The 360 did it? I think you didnt undestand...
The Nintendo Channel allows Wii users to watch trailers for games and download demos and game patches for the Nintendo DS. The channel works in a similar way to a DS Download Station that are on stores.
Users can also rate games only if you have played the game for more than 1 hour, and a search feature is also available to assist users in finding new games to try. Videos such as interviews, trailers, and commercials are also available on the channel.

You transfer the DS Demos from the Wii to the DS via local WiFi.

Fernando,
The DVD9 limited space is becoming an issue. The new game from ID software will ship on 2 discs for 360 and 1 BD for the PS3.
Plus, read this article with one of the founders and creators of GTA. Look at what he has to say about Microsoft using DVD as the storage medium. Basically, your argument that the best games are on DVD will not be useful for much longer.

That article is nothing but bullshit. I bet if he was saying DVD was good enough you wouldn't be linking it.

Fernando;Ah, I thought we were talking about demo's in general.Does the channel allow you to keep the demo on your DS Lite? The download stations only allowed to play it until you shut your DS Lite off. Which was an annoyance back when I used them..But now I use flashcarts to test DS Lite games to see if they're good enough to be worth buying, if they are I buy them, but I keep playing the flashcart version (convenience, able to carry my whole came collection on one cart).

Well duh, give this man a prize. If the article did indeed say that DVD was enough, then linking said article would NOT support my argument now would it.
Why do you think the article is BS? These words are coming from one of the founders of one of the all-time best selling and groundbreaking franchises.
Yes, you are right, he's full of shit, he does not know what he is talking about. Silly me.

@deaftly,
My reasons for not wanting to switch out discs is not because it is hard to do, rather because I find it unnecessary. Take a TV remote for example, it is not harder to get up and change the channel on the TV, but it is annoying and unnecessary. I think if I were a developer I would not want to worry about how to fit my game on a last-gen storage medium.

BD is just making devs THAT much more FUCKING lazy. What happened to GOOD compression algorithms? What happened to ACTUALLY working to optimize code? It's a joke. If kkreiger can fit into 100kb, the sky is the limit.
don't give devs an excuse to be lazy just because sony wants to push their format. It's a slippery slope.

I normally wouldn’t reply to you Fernando but I feel bored.
“The Nintendo Channel allows Wii users to watch trailers for games and download demos and game patches for the Nintendo DS”.
Oh that’s like the service the PSP had like from the start and you don’t even need a console to download the content.
“Users can also rate games only if you have played the game for more than 1 hour, and a search feature is also available to assist users in finding new games to try. Videos such as interviews, trailers, and commercials are also available on the channel”.
Rate games huh. Sounds good but about the rest Sony did it.
So in conclusion is like what Sony offers except you can rate things.

You know, to be honest, my excitement for Brawl has already reached saturation point. It's really hard to maintain that level of excitement for an extended period of time. A forever grinning bear.
I'll still buy it, but the months of June/July have a load of good DS games coming out. Games which have now taken precedence over Brawl. It'll probably be an August purchase, now.
But with 64 days to go I might change my mind.

I read that second part as Smash Bros. coming to WiiWare on May 20. That seemed pretty funny, considering the Wii's potential for digital distribution.

The fact that the best PS3 titles doesn't need a high capacity disc indicates that Bluray is a gimmick.
The best PS3 titles are multiplatforms, and they fit perfectly on a DVD9.

No, the best PS3 titles, are Uncharted, Ratchet, and Warhawk. The Former two, do use Bruray to a large extent.COD4 is the only multiplatform PS3 game that compares to those. And the Wii's main feature most important is waggle, Bruray isn't that PS3's only main feature, though it is one of them.Don't talk about a console till you own it Fernando.

Top 5 PS3 titles with the best average score, according to Metacritic (in order):
Gran Theft Auto IV
Call of Duty 4
Oblivion
Rock Band
The Orange Box
Not a single exclusive game on the top 5, and all of those games are not bigger than 9GB.

Those aren't the PS3's best games though, don't you get it? Those are the best games available on the PS3, but not the PS3's best games. And Name123, SSBB is in now way a watered down fighter, it's just a different type of fighter, and it's one of the best fighters out there, and it's easily the best party fighter.

I doubt SSBB would be so popular if it used original characters. Mario vs Link is a gimmick, like Aliens vs. Predator or Dracula vs Frankenstein.

Hey name, how does it feel to know that the Wii is destroying gaming as we know it? The next consoles will be underpowered and waggle-controlled, and hardcore games will grind to a halt. The industry will continue to run backwards until ten years from now when in-game graphics will recall the Amiga days. Then gaming will die completely, many will be out of a job, the economy will be in shambles, dogs and cats will live together, and you may actually have to quit gaming and find a new hobby.
I suggest quilting.

Wait, he's got a little bit of a point. If SSBB was not made by Nintendo, and it didn't contain characters that people had such an emotional interest. Obviously it would be less popular.Would that make the game itself any less awesome though? No, obviously not.

I can disprove your theory, name123.
Power Stone 2, an insanely fun Dreamcast gem. Didn't have recognizable characters (unlike the equally badass Cannon Spike which gave Cammy two uzis and rollerblades) but it's considered a cult hit.

Ah, but as awesome as it was (I have both the DC and the PSP versions, freaking loved the game) it was nowhere near as popular as any of the Super Smash Bros games.I think Name123 is right in this case, but I don't think he has much of a point.Like really, popularity doesn't make a good game good or a bad game bad.

now a days, hype MAKES the game. People are so predetermined whether they'll like the game or not that yes, popularity = quality. It's called perception. Video games are like pop music. Popular "musician" = quality music by means of oversaturation of the song and the artist.
If you read any reviews of halo 3, half life 2, and of course smash bros melee AND brawl, you'll see they don't even bother to even TOUCH the obvious serious and not so serious flaws of these games. It's about pedigree and hyping yourself to see things as what you've expected and what they are. Most consumers have the "fan-like-excitement" of a 5 year old and you really can't discuss their "favorite toys" without them getting angry...kinda like a 5 year old clings to things.
To me Nintendo made one great game this generation thus far...Super Mario Galaxy...ironically less popular of a hit. Well, you can argue Wii Sports was great for many reasons too even though i was underwhelmed personally. Everything else has been hype (and thus popularity and sales) and pedigree over substance thus far. Galaxy gave me the hope and Brawl knocked it down hard.

Im a big fan of fighting games, 2d and 3d alike. I was skeptical about brawl when i first heard of it. I thought the same thing the average person over 18 thinks when they first see it. That this game is a gimicky fighting game for 13 year olds who dont take fighters seriously, and how deep can a fighting game be with 2 buttons. But i met some new gamer friends that played melee and i thought why not ill try it out. Besides the game has a very competetive fighting scene and brawl was just gonner be bigger, if not the most competetive fighting game out there(sadly i thought).
Anyways long story short i really got into it and as a fighter the game as very good dept. Its not really combo based but higher level play takes very good DI to be good. I have some quirks with it. For instance some characters are better than some at taking out others at higher play. Anyways what im tryin to say is i was really impressed with this game and id go so far as to say its one of the better fighting games out there quality and gameplay wise. I just hope i dont get disapointed with the new soul calibur and street fighter games coming out.

That's why I have trouble taking people seriously when they denote both the Wii Remote and SIXAXIS controller as innovative/revolutionary. Neither are anything remotely new(pun intended)technology-wise, and yes, *both* are gimmicks. They were thrown to the masses as a hook and reel to get their attention away from the X360 that had taken the market earlier. If the Wii or PS3 control scheme are among a person's main reasons for buying or defending either system, I can't help but (dis)regard that as lame. The Wii waggle isn't entirely immersive, and damn if you don't look like you're an English nanny shaking a baby when using the SIXAXIS controller(especially when playing FOLKLORE).
As for Europe getting 'BRAWL later, have fun with the tedious Subspace mode, let alone getting the trophy of the last boss. ¬_¬"
