Toys R Us getting big Wii shipment Sunday

Due to the "Dr. Seuss" inspired font, the red box mentioning the larger amount of consoles in store is more hilarious to me than it should be.

"Everyone, to Toys 'R' Us!
They have 50 Wiis!!"

It's good when you release consoles when a big game hits. Then people can actually play your game!

As has been mentioned earlier, my company sends 40% of the 1.8 million Wiis produced a month to North America alone. In the European and Asian territories, the Wii has been on shelves for quite some time. You can easily walk into any store in Japan or the UK or Ireland or wherever and purchase a Wii. There is enough supply to satiate demand, yet the Wii is still the top selling console in those regions. That means that there are a lack of Wiis in North America, specifically the US, simply because Americans want it more than other nations.

I'm going to step out of character for a moment. I think I made a mistake coming back and posting on Joystiq again. I left because I had been sucked into the rabble-rousing and now I am doing the same thing again. I can't help it. It's infectious. I may have to take another leave of absence less I go on some wild posting rampage.

But seriously, I got my Wii a couple of weeks after it launched. It is a sort of fun system. The kids like it.
