What kind of death penalties does this game feature? The reason I enjoy Shiren is because it's so harsh. I can't see myself playing a game without perma-death for very long...

This game's death penalties are CANDY-ASSED!

You'll lose all cash and a random half of your items (I think each item has to make some sort of coin-flip saving throw but it averages about 50%). No experience penalty.

While I'll give it points for forcing the player to quit out on dungeon saves (and then deleting these saves once loaded), any save in town is permanent (at least until saved over).

My biggest gripe, although it does have a few "level resets to 1" dungeons once you've cleared the main story, the pokemon system just doesn't work well with this kind of dungeon since you'd never be able to get a pokemon into the higher levels (where many of their cool powers kick in), get their IQ anything decent (even if all the gummis you found were the right color), or even use the new treasure items you might find (not only are they unlikely to apply to your current team, you can't open the chests in the dungeon).

That... kinda sucks. I guess it's understandable since the game is marketed towards ten year olds, but what happens when you hit the level cap? What's the point in playing if you can just grind, die, and repeat on the early levels?

Actually, I don't even think your starters are any different in the two. The reason you may have noticed a difference in the partner rosters is that you are now not allowed (I assuming for your own safety) to pick a partner that is of the same type as you (so you both can't be water, fire, bug, or whatever specific camp you main guy is of).

I, being a strategy guide WHORE, had to get the guide and noticed a very ANNOYING difference in the two games not present in the first incarnation (besides the obvious fact that one was a GBA game and one was a DS game)! While I grudgingly accept the whole nonsense of version exclusive pokemon (it's a staple of this stupid dual system from the beginning of time), they've also decided to make many of the standard items of the game version exclusives. So now many seeds, bands, orbs, and TMs are exclusive to one version or the other! This irks me off to no end as I'm not that social of a gamer and like the idea of being able to customize my team with anything the game has to offer...but now I'll never know, short of pulling out the guide, am I not finding a specific TM because it is very rare or because it simply does not exist in MY version of the game.

I actually like this game. I'm pretty far in, though I haven't finished. I ended up with Pikachu, and I, too, chose Mudkip because of the "So i herd u lyk mudkipz"? thing.

lulz.

I hate to say it, but I am also a Pikachu rolling with a Mudkip. I even went out and bought Pikachu and Bidoof figures to go with my Mudkip to commemorate it.

And hell yes I liek Mudkipz. But who else is in your party? I usually run my Combee and Tangela.

Well, just to be different, I'm a Charmander with a Pikachu called "Sparky".

I'm trying not to play this game often because I don't want to complete it in two days like I did on Pearl. I find the post stories really boring.

hey do you by chance know how to get a certain poke'mon in the beginning of the game ? I know that the pokemon you get is determined by how you answer ,but is there any way to know what kind of answers give you which poke'mon? I really don't want to end up with a pokemon i hate :0.

I picked it up and gave it a shot. Got up to Chapter 3 and started again because I couldn't do it... and it just got boring. I liked the first one, but this one... no. A Guild run by Wigglytuff? Just like a typical RPG, except with Pokémon. And Duskull Bank? Marowak Dojo? It's all just not as... original as the first one. Not that it was that original to start with, but... And what's all the aura business at the start? I keep getting red.
