Rumorang: BioShock PS3 port in September

While left out of the Quartermann roundup posted on 1UP yesterday, the oft-rumored, oft-denied BioShock PlayStation 3 port could arrive this September, reports NeoGAF user "SuperSonic1305" upon scavenging the June issue of EGM. The revived rumor suggests the port will include the extra DLC content and sport upgraded visuals (how about a better ending?). In addition, BioShock 2 reportedly will be "shown" around the same time the port is due. Presumably, the sequel (or prequel?) will be released for Xbox 360 and PC, with a likely version developed for PS3 as well -- why not? And if that is the case, it might make sense to prime the Sony faithful with a port of the original, though BioShock is quickly becoming "last year's game." Two questions: Is a PS3 port too late to the party? But if it is arriving, however late, why keep it a secret?

This is probably the only game I'm interested in for the Xbox 360. So, it'd be good news if this came to the PSTriple.

Yeah, this is one of the few games that I really feel like I missed out on. If I had not already bought a PS3, this game would have made me pick up an Xbox alsmost immediately when it came out.

Yeah, I really hope this happens, the day Bioshock comes out for the PS3 is the day I sell my 360. I'm really hard pressed to think of any 360 exclusive that I want to play except for Blue Dragon or Lost Odyssey and I'm boycotting those because of the shoddy US packaging.

Your right, it could never run it. I just played it on PC and gotta say, the world is so massive the PS3 would simply overload. Only shitty games like GTA IV can run on the shitty the 512 mb ram sad excuse for a console.

I know that, but I run Windows on my Mac through VMWare, and I've found games are a bit wonky. Especially graphic-intense games. Plus, I've never been big on PC games, I dunno why; I just prefer consoles.

This game was OK but it wasn't all that is way hyped up to be ... The only reason for me to pick this up again on the PS3 would be if they added a multiplayer component ... That would be something special

I disagree that BioShock will simply fade out of conciousness. I think they achieved something of similar proportions to HL2, and this is is a game that people for years to come will pick up and appreciate.

I totally agree. Everyone needs to experience this game - it was awesome. If a PS3 port means that many more people will get the pleasure of exploring Rapture, then right on!

What a plague of a game. Atmosphere does not equal a fantastic game, nor do gimmicky powers. The gunplay is awful and the enemies are bland, have fun following the flock sheople.

EGM a few months back interviewed BioWare and they said Mass Effect and all its sequels (or the next two at least) are contractually obligated to be 360 exclusives. The EA acquisition doesn't nullify existing contracts. Mass Effect 2 or 3 will never be on the PS3, unless EA is willing to buy its way out of the obligation.

Microsoft are completely free to add Blu-Ray to the xbox, there were rumours about Lite-on a while back.

erm sony will allow microsoft to have bluray.. simply because of VC-1 encoding.. microsoft owns VC-1, and if MS doesn't get bluray, they might stop the contract for VC-1.. so i am pretty sure they will get bluray

You mean a company under threat of a takeover unless it shores up it's revenue picture puts out a port of one if it's bestselling games... shocking!

They'll probably also doing this as a excerise for their devs so they are up to speed for porting Bioshock 2.

I mean, that is, assuming of course the rumors of Bioshock 2 being available for PS3 are also true.

I also own it..for those FPS PS3 fans out there... you'll love it! It will still be one of the best looking and playing games out if/when it releases for the PS3.

Bioshock was my GOTY for 2007 so if this version is a little bit prettier with some exclusive content I could see my self picking it up again.

Who needs a 360 when you can play all their games on other platforms? MS doesn't have a first party worth a sh!t. Sony seems to be able to get 2nd party devs to make games just for their platform (Kojima, Naughty Dog, Insomniac) but MS can't keep a 360 title exclusive to save it's life.

I'm glad everyone might be able to enjoy this game but there is something about having games on your platform that can't be found anywhere else. MS just doesn't seem to have any desire to do that and it is the reason why as soon as I get the RROD I am done with the 360 and will use the PS3 and I won't miss a thing.

Of course Sony can get 2nd party devs to make games exclusively for their systems. By definition, a 2nd party will only make games for one company's platform. 3rd parties can make games for whoever they want.

Funny that you think this way, because in the last year how many times has sony lost an exclusive game or a game studio that has been sony brand loyal switched to the xbox 360?

For instance Ninja theory is developing their next game for both the PS3 and 360.

Rockstar makes gta4 multiplatform, DMC4 comes to 360, etc.

Microsoft has about the same 2nd party developer as Sony does. (ok, not exactly equal! The playstation has more rep after all.) It's just the times, games are getting more expensive (also EA is being a monopoly monster), so you'll see more and more people porting the games. You might feel like getting rid of your 360, because of the idea that Microsoft can't keep an exclusive game, but I will gladly keep mine. I don't feel cheated when they port a 360 game to games for windows (which is still owned by microsoft/royalties), they're just trying to make money else where with it. Besides I'll happily play it on a 400 dollar console then go out and spend money to upgrade my computer agian for a couple thousand and if the ps3 gets the game later, I'm happy for them, becuase I want everyone to experience the game. That way no matter what you choose to play 360/PS3/Computer, everyone gets a chance to choose their platform of choice.

Now that the PS3's install base is growing and perception about it is improving, lets hope that developers will bring exclusives from the 360 to the PS3 and create more games for it and then the install base grows more and developers favor it more, etc etc.

The PS3 has already lost several exclusives to the 360, lets hope we can get some of your nice exclusives too huh? Sharing is caring.
