New Silent Hill: Homecoming screenshots be freaky, foggy
Though the characters in Wes Craven's magnum opus would be an obvious exception, we're pretty sure that protagonists in horror movies have never seen horror movies -- looking at the Silent Hill series, it's clear this rule applies to video games as well. Not that we're complaining, as if the characters in Konami's beloved horror series would collectively realize that abandoned, fog-filled towns are abandoned and fog-filled for a reason, they would probably stop going to them in search of deceased or missing wives/offspring/brothers -- and we wouldn't have these gorgeous screenshots from the upcoming Silent Hill: Homecoming to drool over.So thanks, horror genre characters. Your obvious ineptitude for danger avoidance may deliver you into the jaws of certain doom, but it provides us with near-limitless entertainment -- and really, isn't that more important in the long run?

Lots of grammatical errors. The first words not capitalized, the title doesn't really make sense...
Anyway, still funny, even though this game looks a little too...."Silent- Hilly" for me.
MarkHawk @ Apr 27th 2008 1:17PM
The internet is known for it's bad grammar. Why just the other day I got into a flame war because I mis-used the word Your instead or You're ... lame
Hiroken @ Apr 27th 2008 2:25PM
What's lame is actually that you think it's lame to be smart.
What's REALLY lame is that correcting someone's grammar so they don't continue to make themselves look like an idiot is frowned upon.
Move along, troglodyte.
Oh, and I can't wait for SH:H. I loved Origins and know this dev team has what it takes to make the greatest SH since 2.
Hiroken @ Apr 27th 2008 2:27PM
Also, 'the internet' is not known for its (no apostrophe) bad grammar. Internet users (such as yourself) and their tiny little facebook pages, however, are a different story.
Anticrawl @ Apr 27th 2008 2:42PM
Run-on sentences for the win!

Actually, I'd say your post is an example of why the internet is often lame. If it were mearly a matter of correcting someone's grammar it likely wouldn't be a big deal most of the time. But it seems that most of the time people can't do so without also being as ass. It should also be noted that most of the time correcting grammar on the internet is a waste of time. Mistakes like your vs you're are often just that... mistakes. The people often know the correct usage already. Lose vs loose OTOH....

I can haz edit button?
Sorry about that. It won't happen again.

Silent Hill > All
Don't jump ship and take a shit on the game just because it has a new team either. You can't say anything about it until you actually play it.
Night Elve @ Apr 27th 2008 1:16PM
I'm not sure guys this game does not look graphically impressive.
Anyway I'm a SH Lover so this game is gonna be mine for sure.
Mike @ Apr 27th 2008 4:25PM
Agreed. Calling these screen shots "gorgeous" is a complete overstatement. Oh wait, this is coming out for GameCube? Oh, OK. No? PS3? Huh. These screen shots have all the pizazz of your average PS2 movie license. Blah.
KiwiLord @ Apr 27th 2008 1:50PM
If you compare old screen shots to the new ones, you'll see some unbelievable graphical down grades. Less polygons, character model changes, static water, and one weird thing is the main characters hair becomes a big block. I'm hoping that this is because the new screens are from a test build or something like that.

Picture No. 11 of 23, Condemned 2, anyone? (Thius screenshot I mean: http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/903765/condemned-2-bloodshot/images/condemned-2-bloodshot-20080229005848147.html;jsessionid=2ego18hyqeki4 )
Thay was my first thought.
DWells55 @ Apr 27th 2008 6:38PM
Two people in a car with the camera focusing on the protagonist?!?! Clearly a ripoff!
Alex @ Apr 28th 2008 10:47AM
I didn't say 'ripoff', all I meant was that that picture REMINDED me of the Condemned 2.
War Flames @ Apr 28th 2008 9:14PM
Screen shot number 9 looks good but I'm unimpressed by some other shots with poor texturework and low polygons, the texture on the ground is particularly old school. Silent Hill 2 had some of the best graphics of it's day I had hoped this gen would bring it to extreme graphical detail.. Maybe things will change by the final version..
crab battle @ Apr 27th 2008 3:07PM
Maybe someone can help me out: one of the screenshots has the protagonist of Silent Hill 5 talking with a trucker that looks like Travis from SH Origins. Anyone else agree?
John McPoop @ Apr 27th 2008 4:46PM
@Crab Battle
Yes actually now that you pointed that out I do agree. I have not played the full version of SH:Origins but I played the demo and that does look a lot like Travis Grady. Nice catch!
John McPoop @ Apr 27th 2008 4:44PM
These screenshots look awesome especially for an early build. This is Silent Hil after all so the foggy and eery setting is stylized. If this were the pre-release build then I might have some concerns. I expect plenty of graphical upgrades the closer the game gets to an Alpha stage. Nothing wrong with any of these screens in a graphical sense. I think it already looks better than Alone in the Dark.
Yourself @ Apr 27th 2008 6:19PM
I think I just learned that suede is bad graphics IRL. I was looking at the main characters jacket and thinking how poorly rendered it looked, then I thought "it looks a little bit like suede, maybe." And the more I thought that, the more natural it looked.
Hugs not Drugs @ Apr 27th 2008 8:19PM
The jacket in that screenshot does look a bit like actual suede, yes. However so do the guy's pants, the monster, and the floor.
Kujel @ Apr 28th 2008 12:42AM
SH anything sucks, I've tried 2 and 4 and hated both, this one will be just as shitty if not shittier.

Is the monster in picture #3 in his Yoga class?
