It takes me FOREVER to learn control schemes so by the time the beta is over I MIGHT know what I'm doing.

I'm actually enjoying it quite thoroughly. I'm not exactly the biggest fan of its interface though. They really need to Arial/Calibri font it and stop using yellow/orange... EVERYTHING.

There's greats and gripes about... nearly everything in this game though. I'll wait and see what Nick and his crew thinks though =P.

The real problem is, for me, it's not addicting. It's a game i'd play for a few rounds and have fun, but it's not something that makes me go OMG i want to play. It's just kinda there.

Warhawk, on the other hand, makes me want to play. Besides, i'm in in MGS4 for the singleplayer, MGO is just a nice distraction i'll end up playing for 5-10 hours probably.

Simply a terrible beta.

Clunky controls, and very boring.

Its as if Konami tried to copy COD4 and add a stealth twist...yet failed miserably.

I deleted the whole thing from my PS3 yesterday. Single player is were the strength lies for this franchise.

I kinda agree, but I don't think that its miserable. I play the training section often, just so that I'll be able to just jump into MGS4 on June 12. Its also fun to run through Grosnyj Grad in mind boggling high definition.

I dI disagree.. I love the multiplayer. But everyone have their own taste. The strength in this game is that it's different from most first player games. Though I think warhawk and COD are good games as well.

But this is just a sample.. there are a few more modes they didn't release yet that was on the previous version... where you get to be snake and have to fight against everyone.

But if you're not into it, it's justified, the other games do offer more than this beta. I think it's different game, and different isn't what a lot of people like at times.

i don't mind it, but i agree that it's quite difficult to get the hang of. I get bored of being killed all the time, and having to respawn all the way back at the base.

I love metal gear, but think it should be made for one player.
Didin't stop me from experiencing. Found it a very interesting beta and have played it quite a bit.

The snake game was released today, with a new map.
luckily, to my suprise, i got to go snake. and it's ridiculously hard, but a bit more fun i'd say :P
taking people out with a tranq, and stealing their dogtags.
get three to win, even though i would only get one, and be killed, resetting the count :(

average i'd say.

To be honest, I wasn't too thrilled about it to begin with. The player moved toooo slow and I kept getting killed seemed like for no reason.

But THEN, I figured out the game is one based on 'skill' level and 'skill' points...

So now I've leveled up in "FAST MOVING" and "ASSAULT RIFLE" skill...and now i'm a beast. Come out on top of most of my matches.

Now I'm working in my CQC Skill and Knife Skill.

You have to 'equip' certain skills and work with them to level up. THEN you have to go to your 'skill' menu to actually 'upgrade' your skills.

Any other way...you'll end up frustrated and cut the game off.

They should really explain THAT part more, and add features and rewards for using SOP, and then the game will be just GREAT.

I hope my stats will carry over to the retail version though :(

It's taken me about 6hrs playtime to lvl up just those 2 skills...I'd hate to have an awesome player then have to start from scratch on June 12th.

Otherwise, I'm truly impressed. You just have to give it time. It's REALLY not a 'pick-up-and-play' type of game. It takes practice, dedication, and actually a bit of skill. But its intricate and once you get a feel for the skill system and actual mechanics...you'll love it.

Don't have the beta but I hope it's different from the online play in MGS portable ops for PSP. Oh man it's a nightmare playing there. As with all betas, I expect you guys w/ MGO to be running into lots of trouble. =)

Sorta..played it for couple of hours. Took me some time to shift from run and gun COD to tactical espionage style. In the end, if they fix the controls, Ill bite otherwise will stick to COD.

Yeah I feel the same way, the controls feel like junk. If they're going for 3rd person they should just copy R6Vegas. There's no way to fix them either, I have tried every setting and can't get it to act right.

Popping into and out of cover is way too slow. The knife is crazy when used against you. I got knocked out by the shock knife earlier, then the dude teabagged me for 30 seconds since it's impossible to wake up. After he got bored I caught 2 pistol shots to the face. That's not very fun but I imagine it was hilarious for him.

The more I play it, the more frustrating it gets. I doubt I'll put much more time into it.

At first i hated the beta. then i turned it on a second time. as for the comment on not knowing the controls, do the training. It's a fun game I don't really like the bloodbath level, but the other one is great. the map doesn't really tell me much.

the auto aim is good for the first couple of times you play, but if you turn it off it makes the game more enjoyable, you'll find you get alot more kills. I'm still trying to figure out some of it, it was hard to find the time, since i was trying to make the most of the double experience on cod4 for the weekend.

i'm looking forward to see the full game, don't think it will be as addictive as some multiplayer games, but it's a nice break.

I get HORRIBLY laggy connections for some reason, and they make the game suck for me. It seems that shots actually hit their targets ~4 seconds after I fire. This works OK-ish when I am sniping, but doesnt work at all otherwise. I wish there was a way to browse games by ping, because when everything lines up right the game is really fun.

I'm somewhat enjoying it, somewhat not. There are a lot of things about this game that mean I would not buy it or additional maps, etc...

On the other hand, if they made it so that it's not a headshot-fest, I'd probably pick it up.

Either way, it definitely needs to be tweaked before I'd be willing to spend money on it (beyond MGS4, of course...)

i thought cod4 was a rip off of the first online metal gear+socom+other fps. this beta shows a really innovative take on online fps. I love cod4 and ut3 and still find this beta of mgo to be pretty fun but agree the shooting is awkward.

The controls are taking a lot of getting used to, even for a hardened MGS fan.

Really not a fan of over the shoulder view, would prefer it if the aim button went straight to the first person view mode, instead of over the shoulder then press another to go to fpv.

Would be great if you could map the buttons to something more easy to use, though I guess if MGS4 is going to use this method then will have to put more practice on the beta in!

"Server is idlebut unavailible to you" WHY is it "unavailible" to me?!

was the vote written by a Brit btw? I have never heard an American use the term 'geez' before (as in 'geezer' for example 'awight geezer' ) I have seen the use of 'jeez' before, but not "geez'. Maybe this is part of the colloquial language stateside as well-not being American I wouldnt know.

Anyway, I find the controls a bit clumsy, and the character appears to move quite slow, and the levels rather claustrophobic (which tbf isnt that much of a bad thing). Maybe the problem I have is that I do tend to play a lot of Warhawk. I shall continue again this week and hopefully it will 'click'

Most people I have heard (read: read on forums) are complaining about the speeds and not so stealthy

I'm sure I would love the game, but sadly I live in Puerto Rico. lol for some reason people who uses two of the mayor ISP in puerto rico, DMAX and Choice are unable to play because they are banned from the american servers because our IP is puertorican and not from USA, which we are part from. This is like 80% of our country (head estimate) A friend got into the beta, so I'll have to go soon to his house to play and enjoy.
