GTA IV drops at midnight ... what are your plans?

As we were just reminded by a robotic cell phone call from GameStop (what a treat!) Grand Theft Auto IV is finally entering into hearts and homes at midnight. We were just curious how you were planning on spending the evening. Are you doing the midnight thing? Picking it up tomorrow? Avoiding it all together?

Oh, us? Well, like most other professional video game reviewers, we'll be spending the night in our personal hydrofoil, enjoying Sri Lankan palm wine and secret preview copies of Grand Theft Auto V and Halo 4: The Precursor Legacy Prologue. But we like to be reminded of how the other half lives. We're also curious:

I'm playing something else. Hell yeah, suck on that! Here I am almost starting a 'GTA-inspired hatred march'. But I'm not. I'll be sitting comforably and playing Burnout on my Xbox.
Seriously, play GTA III. It's the same game but without the main character shouting irritating things after every law-breaking he commits. GTA III was best because he was a mute.

Earlier today, I received a confirmation email from Amazon noting that my order is in transit, so it's on its way! I even bumped up the shipping from 2 days to 1. Surprisingly, it's coming a day early — tomorrow instead of Wednesday.

$15.48 for One Day shipping. Yikes!

I'll probably spend most of my time playing the gold rush update for tf2 when it comes out this week, but I'll buy GTA IV anyway. Only wish it was coming out on the PC as well :(

I don't have any lectures at uni this term because of exams... revision vs. video games... =P

tmr at least, it will be mostly video games :)

I was hoping they'd have an option for that, because that was my sentiment exactly. I'd love to pick it up immediately, but I'd also like to study for a couple finals, write the papers due this week, and on.

I might just stave off Joystiq until classes are completely over w/. It drove me crazy when everyone was like "OMG LINK'S FINAL SMASH IS THE COOLEST THING EVER!!!!!!!!!!" I can't go through that again.

There's a good chance that they delivered to Amazon and other game channels earlier. We already got our copies here in Malaysia.

Modano, check UPS and see whether or not the order has actually shipped. As far as I know, they only have the Billing Information. The order may not ship until tonight/tomorrow morning, in which you'll receive it tommorrow morning/afternoon, as will I. I live in/on LI (wtf is the diff?).

I'm in Queens and it's being shipped by A-1 courier service, which usually means same-day delivery and Amazon estimates it to arrive today but it's getting late and I'm freaking out a little! the only status updates are:
Last night: Carrier notified to pick up package
07:29:00 AM today: Shipment picked up from seller's facility
Funny thing, the location for these updates is actually my neighborhood, Long Island City! Just posting this in case anyone else is seeing the same thing. Come on, A-1, you're my only hope!
