We've yet to see if the whole package is really going to gel together, but for a project with this much promise we've certainly got our fingers crossed.
See first gameplay videos of Prototype

After our somewhat indecisive take on the game this morning, we thought you might enjoy seeing some of the first gameplay videos from Sierra's open world actioner Prototype. The fantastic animation and fast-paced action are on display here, as is Barry Pepper, much to the delight of both fans of Battlefield Earth. If you still haven't gotten your fill, there's more (Barry Pepper-free) action after the break.

Maybe I'm just used to GTA's awesome-ness, but this game looks really dull and repetitive.

I agree. The bland graphics and bordering on horrible, and the environments are Superman 64 exciting. I hope they clean it up because it could have some good multiplayer, or not.

I don't know about dull, but repetitive I can believe. For some reason i'm getting a Spiderman 2 and Hulk Ultimate Destruction vibe. Besides the fact that they both used sandbox style gameplay, the character animations and attack "combos" look very similar to Spidey 2 while the massive damage to the environment is suspiciously Hulk like.
It just feels too familiar.

Well, let's hope this isn't the whole game. I mean, it might look dull and repetitive because they are only showing the same 4 city blocks over and over. Perhaps there is a larger game world to play in.
Anyway, I thought it looked pretty cool. The adaptive parkour stuff looked pretty slick. Might be something I pick up - have to see/hear a little more about it first.
However, Barry Pepper FTW!

holy crap the explosion from the rpg was very weak indeed!
this game has some cool ideas but i don't think it's going to turn out as well as the creators would like it to.
i like the parkour stuff but i just hope the final is alot better than this video.

*digging through PS2 library*
You're absolutely right. I thought Sierra did a really good job with that game so even if Prototype uses the Hulk engine with better visuals(hopefully) this could make for a really fun ride.
Btw, if you haven't tried Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, I highly recommend it. It's fairly old now so you should be able to find it pretty cheap.

I never thought i'd say this, But does the game need to be that violent?
Seeing the character punch his fist through an npc's chest, Riding a body around the ground like a skateboard, Streets covered in blood.
What the reason for it?What's the story behind this character?
Yeah i can probably live without playing this one either way.

Wow, lot of negative comments!
I'm actually more jazzed for this, having seen the videos. Yeah, the graphics aren't the best, but the sheer number of things your character is shown doing in the videos is pretty interesting.
Parkour-ing through wartorn NYC, shooting spikes out of the ground, and taking down helicopter gunships with my bare (clawed) hands is like the perfect recipe for me.

Please tell me you are joking right? Grandma's boy inspired no one sir. (It was good for a chuckle though)
Anyway, the developers are definitely taking that Hulk Ultimate Destruction game play to the next level which is a good thing. (you should check that game out on back-compat if you haven't already)
So have most of the commentors only started reading video game news today? I thought a layman would have a basic understanding that textures, graphics, and colors are the last things to be polished in a game. (Any actual developers feel free to correct me) The release date for the game is October 30. Which means they have another 5-6 months to work on the game!
Why would graphics be polished at this point! It just drives me crazy what people choose to focus on. The whole point of the video was to show off the game play. If you don't like the game play, fine. But at least comment on that.

Man, what was all of that tomato juice spread all over the streets for?
Seems like its being violent just for the sake of violence, a little to over the top for me.

I wonder how this game will be in comparison to inFamous. They seem very similar. InFamous being and exclusive to PS3 though, which means it will take advantage of things that multi console releases don't.

It looks really good, but it was a mistake to have this launch after GTA IV. It sucks for them though, because it DOES look fun, it's just that GTA IV seems to have so much more depth.

Devs. Stop up talking your product and actually try and make a good game, or go and get jobs as Real estate agents where your skills are much more effective. Thanks

I got bored just watching the first video. Maybe they can hype it up with a really good demo, like Crackdown. Otherwise I'm just not interested.
