GTA IV comparison video between Xbox 360, PS3

Just to quiet the fanboys (or rile them up), GameVideos has put together a comparison video between the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Grand Theft Auto IV. You can find it after the break. To be honest, we really don't see a difference, but we're sure that won't stop someone from mentioning how multi-bump aliasing is totally missing from one version of the game. Normally, we'd have a witty closer here, but we're working on a severe sleep deficit at the moment. Now, back to Liberty City!

PS3 games are on Blu-ray discs, so obviously they're in Blu-ray cases.

Why are Blu-ray (and the now defunct HD-DVD) cases that shape? Who knows. Probably just to differentiate them from normal DVDs.

And I do believe people bitched about the PS3 cases back when they were first seen. Pathetic, if you ask me. -_-;

Exactly. Slight color variation. Nothing to bitch/whine/moan (take your pick) about.

I'm not bitching, but I do prefer the 360's muted colors slightly over the vibrancy of the PS3 version. Again, just a personal opinion, but I feel that the muted colors better suite the setting of a vast metropolitan city. Not stated as fact or anything else, thank you.

The color difference I see is a question of saturation, which is adjustable in the options menu. If you like the vibrancy of the PS3 and you're playing on the 360, bump the saturation up a notch or two. Vice versa for the PS3 players who like the grittier look.

I wasn't being serious. I don't even use the cases for games anymore. The bluray cases are nicer, but I just sorta don't like how they aren't standard.

I have GTA4 for xbox360 on a CRT widescreen TV running max at 1080i. My brother has GTA4 on a PS3 on a Sony LCD running at 1080p. The PS3 GTA4 looks like crap, more like 480i. Or like a 640 x 480 blown up on a wide screen when he has it set to 1080p. His Metal Gear Solid, on the other hand, looks awesome at 1080p. Was GTA4 for PS3 not made for 1080p?

The only point where things looked remotely different was during the driving sequence from 0:41-1:07 where the PS3 version has some frame hitches that the X360 doesn't have. With the hardware differences, this is pretty much what you would expect with the x360's slight gfx performance edge, but the video's weren't identical, either.

In any other point, where you're watching a cinematic or standing somewhere with nothing going on, you would pretty much expect them to be identical, since they're using identical assets and that isn't taxing either system.

The water effects looked alitte better on the ps3 version, but the 360 version looked like it had slightly richer color. so all and all i would say it was about even

Are you kidding? It's crystal clear. Everybody is saying that the XBox 360 version is 720p, but from looking at those videos there's no way it's more than 708p. 709p max.

weird video...in some scenes, the PS3 version looks noticeably blurrier than the 360, and in others the 360 version looks blurrier.

The blur seems to be related to time of day. I've noticed that my 360 version is sometimes really blurry, and sometimes really sharp. I think they use the blurring to represent the haziness of dawn or heat of midday or something...

How many Joystiqers did you make your MKWii and PS3 GTA4 bet with? I am going to do my best Mike Patcher impersonation.

I predict that not only will you loose, but loose badly. No one but the most diehard Nintendo fanboys will care for MKWii over GTA4.

GTA4 IS the game to make people "forget" about the Wii.
