PS3 GTA IV online multiplayer went down, back up [update]

You just posted way way way to many rational thoughts at once. PS3 and 360 fanboys heads are imploding all over Joystiq as we speak. (including some fanboyish Joystiq staff)

I'm with you on playing GTA4 primarily for single player. Who knows, maybe once I get board with single player I might ultimately like the multiplayer more. I doubt it though because I have never been that big of a multiplayer. (online)

Hey McPoop, did you make a bet with Fernando on GTA4 being outsold by MKWii? Because if you did, you have this won already I bet.

Poop dude, you referenced LA Noire again. Asked you awhile ago, I thought it got canned? Thought Joystiq posted about it awhile ago saying the game was essentially done, and wasn't going to happen. What's the deal on it anyway? I know you're not a goto reference on it, but wanted to ask.

On a side note, I've you seen be really flamey a number of times awhiles ago. That being said, you're typically more well reasoned than most, so thanks. People love to hate on Nando on here, but he always tries to be well reasoned and provide backup to what he's saying. Plus he never resorts to actually insulting anybody. I'm a irritable bitch sometimes myself, but being a regular has calmed me down :)

Yeah, so is RRoD repair, I keep seeing. My two repairs were. So 'Free' makes everything tolerable, I guess.

We can complain because its Rockstar's fault ... the PSN is not what's out its the GTA IV multiplayer on PS3 thats out ... SO we complain to Rockstar not about the PSN service ...

they allowed Rockstar out of the GTA IV timed exclusivity deal in exchange for two console exclusive titles ...

One we know is LA Noire the other one is secret at the moment ...

Dude, seriously, it's only the online part that was down. So no, jackass, I'm not sitting in the corner doing nothing. I'm playing the single player game which for the moment, is the best part of the game.

Count pixels all you want, the PS3 version looks better. Maybe Rockstar should knock down the resolution in the 360 version also. Might fix that pop up problem.

Actually I doubt I would. I have never gotten used to the Playstation controller set up to me it's almost anti-ergonomic, so I'll pass. Thanks for trying though!

Actually. Developers make more money when they make exclusives because MS/Sony has to put $$$ upfront. And Rockstar wanted a hefty amount from Sony, so the final result was obvious.

If you have HD Cable TV, then you can get HD Antenna TV also. You just get more channels with cable. The HD aspect is there as long as you have an HDTV.

What exactly is it that we have all accomplished by the almost now customary "LOL U SUX PSTRIPLE US3RZ!".

I recall reading someones post in this rather colorful conversation about the issues with getting set up with the MGO Beta. It really wasn't as bad as you made it seem, and let me remind you -- It's a beta. As in, testing. As in, not meant to be smooth dick, sailor. And for a Beta, that game is outdoing online gameplay compared to Gears of War. Now, that isn't to say I don't like GoW - I'm buying a 360 specifically to play it with my friends at work.

The GTAIV online service is down for the PS3... Ok? I came online to see if there was a solution, and from this thread, along with others, I've realized that it's a unanimous decision that Rockstar indeed is to blame with this. It has nothing to do with the fact that you have centralize / decentralized network comparisons, especially since GTAIV's online gameplay is handled entirely by XBox Live. I really frown on Rockstar's performance as of yet for the game if they release a faulty build of a $200,000,000 dollar production cost game. I bought the game with an expectation of quality as a consumer, I expected the damn multiplayer to be up and running. Though, am I really all that sore that it's not up? Not especially. I'm sore that my friend saved over my game file and now I have to start over from "Bleeding Out" ((I think my exact reaction to seeing that can only be explained as thus; o.@; )) after getting so far into the game. I was basically flying helicopters for the Russian government worker who oddly reminded me of The Departed.

It doesn't matter really what's better - free or payed for. I as a consumer hope that when I pay for XBox Live, it bloody well works. I'm none-too-confident though, from what I've been reading, and rather enjoy the reliability of the PSN Online Network.

From a personal experience though, I was almost automatically convinced this had to do with Rockstar when I couldn't get online. Armored Core 4 - Works fine. MGO - Works fine. Warhawk - Works fine. Resistance - Works fine. GTAIV - No joy?

...yeah. Seriously, R* just either needs to get a firm boot to the ass and get in gear, or publicly apologize for their lack-luster performance. But then again, there could be something we all are missing here - there could very well be unknown factors at play here, especially since R* hasn't said jack-shit on the subject and are simply 'looking into the matter'. I'd be more confident in their service if they had so much as said they were 'Working as fast as they can to a speedy resolution' instead of kicking back and enjoying the fruits of their labor, since they didn't follow through 100%.

I can't -wait- to see the threads on this site about the possible rumor about how R* had paid out big-time review sites and magazines such as 1-UP, Gamespot, GamerUK, etc, to give the game a 10/10.
