You've most likely heard about the issues plaguing Grand Theft Auto IV on PS3. While some have reported success by deleting their saved content off their PS3 systems, many are still experiencing many issues with the game, on both the Xbox 360. We're conducting a network-wide poll with Joystiq and X3F to see how many people are affected. If we're vocal enough, Rockstar might finally issue a statement about what's going on.Are you having technical issues with GTA IV?

Launch 60gb PS3, only change is that the HDD has been manually upgraded to 120gb hitachi drive. No problems so far, been able to play for at least 6hrs so far.

As much as I like these so called polls.. There is nothing legit about them.. Anyone can click on what ever they want. Just as I did just know that I selected "Yes and I use an Xbox 360" When I clearly dont own one (never had never will).. There are alot of Xbot owners flooding the PS forum with this crap..

You ARE aware that this particular poll is being displayed on X3Fanboy, PS3fanboy, and Joystiq simultaneously, right? I'd call it pretty balanced, well, except for people who deliberately try and skew the polls...*tries not to point the finger at you and fails*

i'll point the finger!
this poll is designed to weed out the problem for rockstar. Clearly it isn't affecting the 360 as much.

PS3 20gb system, but with a 150gb HDD installed. Can't play for more than 20 seconds. I've tried every "fix" people have suggested, but the furthest I've made it in the game after 3 hours of attempts was the second cutscene where Roman steps on the roach.
Utterly frustrating.

Same here. Original 20gb (upgraded to 120gb) still having freezing issues. I waited till today to go exchange my disc, didn't work. So I called Rockstar support back and they said they would pass the info to the 'next level' whatever that means! I hope something is done about this soon!

20gig upgraded to 120. No problems here. I have the SE version of the game. Don't know if that helps.
Seems like a lot of people freeze at the intro section from the youtube vids I've been seeing.

60 Gig PS3 bought last May, no upgrades whatsoever and playing on an SDTV. In about a total of 10-12 hours of play it's frozen around 2-3 times between my two brothers and I. It hasn't been a gamebreaking glitch, just kind of annoying.

that sux. i'm on a 40GB, only problem so far (besides not getting online last night for multiplayer) is an occasional odd stutter that happens from time to time around my apartment/hideout area. any time i get into a car on that street, the game stops for a second or two, sound and everything. after that i'm fine.

I've only been able to play 2 rounds online. Now it takes about 15 minutes to finally start a match, and when it loads up, it freezes and quits out of it after 10 seconds. Kind of annoying.

Launch 60gb PS3 - Stops with no sound after 1 min or less -- cleared data file 8 times reset -- installed no luck still -- ....
What bothers me more is that I have a launch system and bought GTA IV : SE at midnight Monday -- still haven't played :(
(only hope is doing a complete wipe of the HD and restore .. but I am waiting till later this week)

I have a launch version 20gb ps3 with a toshiba 200GB 4200rpm HDD. The install took less than 7min20sec. I have had no problems with single player. The game froze once at an idle pause screen.
Online multiplayer was working from 1:30am CST to 4:00pm CST and is currently down again. Hope they are adding more servers!! I'll rent one out to them.

Disconnecting from PSN fixed my freezing issues, as far as I can tell. A friend also did the same and it worked for him, so, if you're having problems, it's something worth trying. It might just be coincidence, but who knows?

60gb PS3 (later model) unmodified.
I only had one problem. My game froze not during the intro, but in the 2nd or 3rd mission where you drive the chick to her apartment. It froze solid along the way, except the radio kept playing. Required flipping the power switch to reboot. Worked without problem for hours afterward (besides online, of course)
Never had a PS3 game lock up like that.

Have a 60gb w/ 120gb WD Scorpio hdd upgrade.
The game froze at:
-75% when installing the game data
-during the drive to the 'mansion'
-sitting in Roman's taxi at the dock right after the opening
That was within the first hour of playing and at this point there has been no other freezing. Online servers seem to be functioning, just played a multiplayer match when yesterday it would just say 'cannot connect to game server'
Hopefully when a patch does arrive it isn't ridiculously large.

I own the 60GB PS3, and it froze once during the three hours that I played it, but my PS3 was folding for a couple days when I was at college, so that's probably a big reason for that.

Yes, 40 GB Playstation
Sometimes when going up a hill at night in a car, before the peak of the hill everything will stop, the engine will stay at one volume, then go back to normal. It's happened twice in about 3 hours of play. I'll see if it happens again tonight. Last for about 10 seconds.

yes i have a ps3 60GB. I have issues with freezing. Not like most tho. I can play but after a bit it will freeze in high shoot outs. Most of the time it starts back up by its self after like 10-20 secs, but last night it foze completly. I have more issues with the online. I ve gottin on twice , once the first night it came out. Yesterday i couldnt get on at all, and today i was on all morning , shut it down to eat and give the ps3 a break and signed back on like 30 min later. I couldnt get on, still cant, its been like 4hrs and no change. I have contacted rockstars tech line and they said they were aware of the issue and there looking into it. lol. They said to many people online, dont you think they should of expected this many people, dont these devlopers pay atention to whats going on around the gameing world?? GEZZ, i hope socom (S.S) is paying atention. this sucks i keep getting invites from friend but cant join.......

I'd love to participate in the poll, but my copy just shipped as of a couple hours ago. Because I have a 60 GB PS3, I hope there's a fix by the time I get the game (not until next week, because I didn't feel like paying extra just to get it... um.. on time... I love it when preordering something means that they ship for the weekend AFTER it gets released.)

60 gig here:
One video hiccup during a driving mission. The video stopped for about two seconds, but the audio kept going. It picked up again after those two seconds.
So far the only issue I've had.
