Rest Eschered, echochrome on American PSN tomorrow
This is not a good week in games for anyone who has finals or works from home. The PlayStation Blog announced this afternoon the full version of echochrome will be available tomorrow from the PlayStation Store, which is just one glorious week after the demo release gave the general populace a taste of the game's MC Escher-inspired addictive madness.
The game is available on the PS3 and PSP for $10, and comes with 56 levels on PS3, along with 56 "completely different" levels for PSP. The game will also feature a "Canvas mode," allowing players to create their own levels and share them online. In the parlance of the internets, "Do want now!"

Yeah, with that title I could've sworn this article was written by Ludwig.

Is this SCEA's way of saying "Sorry, no Pixel Junk Monsters Encore again..." ?
Nate @ Apr 30th 2008 5:52PM
Hope not.... though they did say "May" which leaves 3 or 4 other Thursdays it could come out on.

I say, this was rather unexpected...
Well, $10 out of my wallet tomorrow....
brandon_r87 @ Apr 30th 2008 5:55PM
The only thing keeping me from buying it tomorrow, is that my friend is borrowing my PSP. It would be too much torture to buy it and have to wait. The demo was great, but some of the mechanics frustrated me, like landing some jumps.

Must have DS port!
Nate @ Apr 30th 2008 5:54PM
Uh... yeah. Good luck with that. It probably would work pretty well with touch controls for rotating the canvas, and obviously the graphics aren't demanding.

Not gonna happen. It's made by Japan Studio, which is owned by Sony.

Nice, it's nice to see more writers at Joystiq like puns. I was under the PERSPECTIVE that it was just Ludwig. Haha, get it, perspective? Because we're talking about Escher's paintings and echochrome! They both deal with perspective!
Sorry, I have a friend who explains everyone of his puns like that, but it certainly does add its own unique SPIN on the jokes. Haha, get it, spin? Because...

I've had the psp version for awhile now and all i can say is that the game is hard as heck. Once you get 4 characters walking at once on a level it gets damn frustrating . I had to put the game down
creid @ Apr 30th 2008 6:12PM
Possibly the greatest pun ever.
Lord Thisiwig von Trundlebottom @ Apr 30th 2008 6:22PM
I say good chaps, for those of us who wield the PSP sans PS3, is there any notion of how to download this game? Must we use the PSP online store, and if so, does it require bothersome bloatware, or nasty rootkit shenanigans (as Sony is known to do)?
Or might I be able to venture to a brick and mortar proprietor to acquire this diversion?
Kodros @ Apr 30th 2008 6:43PM
Yeah, use the PS Store via the PC. You will have to download some software (Or maybe it was just a plugin). Then connect your PSP via USB and download. No spyware or funny stuff.
Nate @ May 1st 2008 8:09AM
Ok, so this is how it works. First, plug your PSP into your computer with the USB cable, and put the PSP in "USB Mode" (it's a menu option). Next, you log into the store (store.playstation.com) and download & install a tiny little program. All that program does is handle the file format of PC store downloads to put the file onto your PSP. So, now when you go to the store and click "download echochrome" for example, and the little program will download it and put it on your PSP. There's no UI to it or anything, and no malware. It's very simple.
el serpiente @ Apr 30th 2008 7:56PM
Are they going to allow user-generated content on the PS3 version?

This game is pretty awesome.

Bad pun usage deserves punishment.
klitorisaurus @ May 1st 2008 12:48AM
dammit! Where am I gonna find the time to play this awesome game? I've still got hours of GTA left to play and an unopened MGS4 Online disc. See you in three weeks echochrome, if you'd have been here last week I'd have totally played you all weekend!
Vodnik @ May 1st 2008 3:21AM
I didn't really like the Echochrome demo.
Courtney @ May 1st 2008 12:00PM
Awesome! I figured it would be late in the month before this was released. Loved the demo, wanted more, now have more!
Kyle N. @ May 1st 2008 4:36PM
Anybody see the game on there?
Guy De Nom @ May 6th 2008 5:00AM
Err - so when is this coming to the rest of the world ? I'm in Australia and it kinda sucks having 2 read about it but not play.. :c(
Erika @ Jun 3rd 2008 6:45PM
I wonder how many people this game is going to frustrate that get stuck...
