The glory that this hardware gives off is amazing. Honestly, I'd totally get it if I had that much money to piss away... OR donate it to something, you know, whatever.

I've wanted one of these things for ages just for the ability to play the track editor for F-Zero X.. my favorite 64 game. I REALLY hope (as it would be possible) that they put this on the VC one day. Sure it's more of a novelty than anything else, but I'd really love to be able to play these games... and I think many people who haven't even heard of the DD would give it a try.. at least more than the original 15k people who tried it :). What do they have to lose?

I would love to try the Mario Artist series of games. Nintendo really needs to port that to Wii. Wii would be a perfect system for that.

Nintendo really had something unique at the time, so it is really unfortunate the DD never took off and several games in the series were never released.

I can't describe how awesome it would be. They could also add WiiWare (or a new service) that allows people to upload and exchange artwork, videos, models, etc.

Actually, I'd say the more obscure moments in Nintendo history would be when they ran a taxi company, sold instant rice, or operated a chain of "Love Hotels" that charge by the hour.

Sure those were more obscure but we fail to see what we could buy from ebay during those times.

I'll bet anyone who bought one of these felt really pwnd at the time.

I'll also bet that at that selling price a lot of them are gutted they got rid of them years ago.

I used to get nintendo power and it was my understanding that this never made it to market. In retrospect, that was US only. I am totally freakin jealous and wish i would have had more info back in the day, as i most likely would have ordered one from Japan.
