It seems that Activision has stumbled across the correct formula for getting us to drop our drumsticks and don our trusty, dusty Les Paul peripherals -- a three-song DLC pack for Guitar Hero III featuring the music of the epic British prog-rock trio, Muse. As of May 8, "Supermassive Black Hole" and "Exo-Politics" from their 2006 album Black Holes and Revelations as well as the fan-favorite "Stockholm Syndrome" from 2003's Absolution will be available to download for a heretofore unannounced price (we're assuming it will match the $6.25 price of former GHIII packs). We've got videos for all three tunes after the jump -- go decide which ones are purchase-worthy! (Hint: All of them.)Guitar Hero III getting triple-pack of Muse on May 8

Generic quote about how this should be in Rock Band

I've got both, but I'd much rather see it in Rock Band. I love Muse, so I might pick this one up, but $6.25 seems expensive considering I won't even get to play the drums along with it, which is my favorite instrument to play.

Muse sucks. Their music to me sounds like 3 guys having a circle jerk, only instead of getting to the point and making themselves cum they talk about their play with themselves and offer encouragement to each other and it goes on for like 20 minutes and your like ok, quit waking off already and get to it, time to rock, then their is a spurt of 30 secs of worthwhile rock then they are finished.
These guys are musical wankers.

Shag, I like muse and I laughed at that comment. Their new album does blow though.

Off-topic: It's driving me nuts. I've seen your avatar elsewhere, but I have no idea what it's from. What is it?

Also off topic, but do you have the (picture) Book "Dead Children Playing?" I'm not a big Radiohead fan, but we went over the book in a class I took this semester and it was pretty interesting. It's by the artist who does all the cover art and such for the band, but you probably already knew that lol.

@ RavenPaul: People who have a good taste in music instead of listening to the lovey-doey and emo rock music that somehow has managed to become popular among shallow teens and MySpace whores.
Good job Activision for giving us this pack, but unfortunately, even with this pack, it'll take some time for you to catch up to Rock Band. I could be wrong though, but we'll see soon what happens...

i was thinking the same thing at first but i decided to listen more closely to each of these songs, paying attention to the guitar work and whether or not they would be fun to play, and i think these should be really good.
besides, if enough of us buy them itll make it more likely that either activision or harmonix will release more muse dlc

"We've got videos for all three tunes after the jump -- go decide which ones are purchase-worthy!" They better all be, because the GH3 primitive DLC packaging doesn't give you the option to buy any separately.

Love the songs, but why no Plug In Baby? I'll just assume it's in GH4, or whatever the hell they'll call that abomination.

Finally some great content for GHIII. But yeah, Rock Band has been doing much better in general with DLC's than GHIII.

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME! Now if Hysteria can just come out on Rock Band, I'll be in ecstacy! This is going to be the first whole pack I'll enjoy, no duds. Joystiq, you are the bomb for telling me that Activision is not complete worthless money-grabbing sequel makers.

Muse are an amazing band... but they are most certainly NOT prog. They are ifluenced by prog, but they aren't prog themselves.
That's just the nitpicky music geek in me, though.
That being said, I definitely have to pick up this pack, those are really good choices.

I dunno, their first 2 albums definitely verged on the prog side... still liked them though. It wasn't until absolution that i got really hook though (which definitely isn't prog.

Ya, Activision is awesome for putting Muse on, but the first two have to be about the most mainstream-sounding Muse songs there are. Why couldn't the pack be Micro Cuts, Take a Bow, Assassin?

While they're at it, they really, really need to get The Mars Volta and Primus on there.
