Echochrome's free updates will add more levels
Kumi Yuasa, associate producer of echochrome, has revealed on the PlayStation Blog that future free updates of the title will add hand-picked user-generated content selected by the developers. The new levels will be available on a "regular basis" by signing in online with the game; however, these levels will only be available until the next group goes up. The PlayStation Blog details how players can create and submit levels for consideration.
It's too bad about the time limit on the content, but it all depends on the frequency of the updates. Of course, for some people it'll be too short, while for echochromeaddicts aficionados even a weekly update would be too rare. We'll try to give warning about the new content in our PSN Thursday posts.

Ah....free. The best kind of update.

Is this just limited to the PS3? And nothing yet for the PSP?

Nice game, but if there's anything I'd like to mend, it would be to have a custom soundtrack.

Yes! Please! This game needs one bad. It's a fun game, but I really need some tunes to listen to while I play.

I just wish I could play it =(

Good to see that some developers are moving in this direction. Free updates to the game that are provided from the community. Talk about sweet.
Not only does it make me look forward to the updates, but it also gets me excited to use the level editor and try to be one of the folks selected to be part of the updates. Very cool. This $10 purchase is sure worth the price of admission.

It seems like maybe the best answer would be to allow users to tag a certain number of puzzles to keep if they wanted, like 5 or 10. That way if there were a few you really wanted to try, but didn't have time to get to, you could save them.

Can you only download them for one week, or only play them for one week?
Lars @ May 5th 2008 2:24PM
Both, due to the way the game works. When you pick the "play random levels" option, it just starts throwing levels at you, some of which are from the original game and some are user-generated. There's no "download levels" option.
This actually explains a lot, like why I keep seeing the same levels repeat and how they prevent obscene representations from getting through.
