GTAIV cheat codes surface [Update]
37
Update: Comments for this story confirm that using some of these cheats will not allow you to unlock certain achievements.
Having a tough time getting your revenge on in Liberty City? Thankfully Game Trailers user GhettoChild discovered the cheat codes in Grand Theft Auto IV for everything from restoring health to spawning an Annihilator helicopter. Using the in-game cell phone you dial the phone numbers to activate the code. While we haven't been able to confirm it, we assume using any cheats will no longer allow you to unlock any achievements and based on Rockstar's past with using codes, you may be unable to watch the final cinematic in the game.
Don't say we didn't warn you. Codes after the jump.
[Thanks, Chris]
How to use the cheats:
Press up on your D-Pad to display your cell phone, and then press up again to access the keypad. Enter the codes and call the number. If done correctly, it should say "Cheat activated" in the top left hand corner.

^This should be posted instead because they list what achievements can't be unlocked. (Car/motorcycle codes don't block anything)
Once you get the achievements that are originally blocked, like on another save file, you are free to use cheats for the rest of the game with no problems.

GTA IV is a first for me in three ways:
1.It stuns me in the amount and substance of graphical variety
2. This is the first GTA title I actually want to finish!
3. This is also the first in the series I refuse to use cheats on.
Now that the police and hospitals don't confiscate weapons, I have no need for cheats.
(Plus I found an RPG launcher today on an iceberg at the top of Algonquin... :) )

The police confiscates weapons, at least it did the one time i got arrested (which should have never happened...)

Yeah, they do take your weapons. Not a huge deal later in the game, because you (should) have atleast 500,000 dollars, and NOTHING else to buy but weapons (which is a failure on GTAIV's part, I think). I got busted once when I accidentally tapped a cop car, and then got out of my car in just the right spot to get busted. The mechanic to resist arrest is so broken that you've got maybe a second to run away before it takes all your weapons ><
That said, these cheats codes are helpful for having a bit of old fashioned GTA fun, in the mass mayhem sense. This list should note that once you put in a cheat on your phone, it saves it to a menu option named "Cheats" so you don't have to manually type out the cheat again. I'm kinda sad that the cheats have been cut down to almost nothing for this GTAIV. Where is the make all cars black cheat? Make cars fly? Make pedestrians attack you? Spawn a tank? I feel like in the name of "realism" they've completely screwed with the GTA formula....meh, still a good game though, but I like Vice City more.

No offense, cause you guys are usually on the ball and I love your site, but these are like...so....sooooo old...
Seriously...they didn't just "surface" They've been flying around for well over a week now..
Oh well, either way, I guess if someone ONLY checks 360fanboy for their xbox fix then they now know about these codes...
Be warned, some of them disable certain achievements, and once they have been "saved" in the game, you cannot disable them other than loading a non-cheat save file....

Well yeah, these cheats have been around for over 2 weeks. With similar replies like the one above, Xav de Matos, I now understand why most people don't want you as an editor here. So damn annoying, you can't every spell in most of your posts.

@ Carpe and Chris
I think the point of the post was to highlight the video of the cheats in action. Where in the post does X3F claim to have "brand spanking new, exclusive, never before seen GTA4 news?"
I don't think X3F is hurting for page views so bad that they have to "scoop" all the other video game sites. (correct me if I'm wrong Xav)
For some people this is the first time they've seen the cheat codes in action. Isn't that enough to warrant the post? If a piece of news has no interest to you then move on.

No you're right. We certainly aren't doing it for the hits considering we have such a loyal readership.
We're just offering up the information, not telling anyone it was breaking news. The video just happen to be newly tipped to us hence the post. A video makes for a better post than listing the numbers alone.
As for the anger thrown at me from Chris I'll just do what people do to him in his everyday life, pretend he isn't there and hope he gets the message.
Explain how a game that's only been out for one week has had cheats out for more than 2 weeks? Actually, don't. No one cares.

See this is the reason why you should have to have a license to breed. Stupid people keep breeding and create even stupider people...lets just hope Chris doesn't breed. *fears the stupidity of his possible children*

Those codes have been up for what seems like forever on www.gtaivcheats.net. I found them through a simple Google search last Tuesday...

The song info code...if I use that, I don't lose the chance of getting achievements right?

I hope not, I've used it several times to find out who's singing. This number is actually in the booklet with the game as one of the ads.

The song information is *NOT* a cheat. It's all over the game, in the instruction manual and on billboards. It's completely legit, does not count as a cheat, and is even a featured section of the website, in that when you look up songs, you can go see what they are and even buy them through Social Club at rockstargames.com.

Well, I am one of those who don't think using cheats kills the fun. Especially in GTA it was always the greatest fun for me just wreaking havoc. I hate that when you want to use a cheat and get shot that you "lose" the phone. So once the cops are near you're fucked.

hope there are more than just these coming. these are pretty underwhelming.
Where are the good cheats that arm all the pedestrians and make them cause havoc etc?
Sure hope rockstar didn't wuss out on the fun type of cheats.

GTA San Andreas had all those fun cheats too:

Chaos mode was probably the most fun you could have in the whole game. Pure awesome.

These cheats (and other info) are found in-game.
***SPOILER ALERT****
Just some info, and I'll try to keep spoiler info vague. There is a mission in the game related to a tin-foil hat conspiracy theorist. You get a glimpse of his website, and if you go there you find all the phone numbers, maps with flying rat locations, and all kinds of stuff that you usually find on FAQs and such.
