Prototype still in skunkworks, delayed until 2009
28
Sierra and Radical confirmed today that Prototype will continue development until 2009. IGN noticed the game had been given a new date on GameStop.com and followed up with the company for a confirmation. The game was originally expected for late this year, but given our hands-on experience with the title, the delay may be for the best.
Considering Prototype is a sandbox game set inLiberty City New York, it's probably best to get as much breathing room between it and the hyper-praised GTA IV. A Sierra spokeperson says the company simply needs more time to "deliver the game the team initially set out to create." Hopefully, Sierra's new overlords at Activision will be understanding of the team's desire.

Maybe they have to work on a plot or a "selling point".

This is good for them cause the game looked really dull and repetitive last time it was shown.

ugh i wish we had a machine that you could go inside of that would speed up time inside so that days would go by inside while only meer hours went on in the outside world, that way i could have new games every week! i also wish i used proper writing techniques like using periods oh and a robo pony of course like every other man in the world right? RIGHT?

That would technically cause you to age faster. So You'd die.

Just don't go too far in the future and wake up when the Xbox 360 is just a museum piece.

Your machine sucks, unless you used it to meet a deadline or do homework. You said days would go by inside while only hours went on outside...I think you want days to go by outside while only hours go by inside.

No no no, instead of sticking himself in it, he wants to stick entire dev teams into it.

Great..2008 is shaping up great. No Borderlands or Prototype. Why must devs break my heart so?

at least we still have Hellboy, Brothers in Arms, Gears of War 2, Alone in the Dark, Ninja Gaiden 2, Hulk, UT3, Too Human, Saints Row 2, Tiberium, Mercenaries 2, The Force Unleashed, Left 4 Dead, Project Origin, Dead Space, Fallout 3, in fact i think you should be happy that you'll have 120 dollars left over for, you know, food.

don't forget the time constraints, if Fallout is as long as oblivion, I'd be spending another few weeks in the game, and doesn't count my deaths and do-overs.

I was expecting this after seeing the absolutely horrible looking gameplay demo on GameSpot's On the Spot two weeks ago.

That's right. Aside from the stuff I say below, that trailer looked positively last generation or worse and I'm not a big graphics whore.

I've never played the game, obviously, but it looks too focused on violence. That and, aside from monsters, it will be too close to GTA thanks to its settings. It might need to be completely reimagined but I think if they focus less on ways to kill people and more on ways to use the monster powers as well as making sure the story is well crafted then it will come out as a fine product. Staying away from GTA is crucial, sci-fi or not.

Damn that BS3 again, it's wasting all their time and effort on technical crap when they could of been working out the game play mechanics.

It's true the BS3 delays everything, even its own exclusives.
