Audiosurf gets a free, audioscrobblin' update

Perhaps most notably, last.fm audioscrobbling has been enabled in the new patch. We here at Joystiq would like to remind everyone that though audioscrobbling seems fun and a good way to really get to know people, it should only be performed by adults and only with protection.
Audioscrobblin' -- It's Worth The Wait.®
New features:

--Command interface for 3rd party mod apps (extensions)
--New hover vehicle for Eraser Elite

Like we really needed another reason to play Audiosurf.
tc @ May 6th 2008 8:38AM
Very handy update this, but how i would love some playslist functionality.
I played through all of Songs for the Deaf the other day and breaking it up with the ghastly audiosurf dashboard music was more than a little irritating!
Zootittles @ May 6th 2008 9:00AM
No joke. At $10, Audiosurf is one of the best deals in gaming at the moment.
It's nice that they're still adding features to it though.

Oops. This was supposed to be a reply to John Z.
Purple Haze @ May 7th 2008 1:43AM
Yet I'm the only person I know who actually owns the game, all my friends pirated it.
TheHuntIsOn @ May 6th 2008 9:00AM
Good stuff, updating.

It should be noted that I'm the highest and only ranked played for Brooklyn Bounce's Bass, Beats, and Melody...
The Artist formally known as Jesus @ May 6th 2008 10:22AM
Well I am the highest ranked in the WORLD for the entire Beauty and the Beast soundtrack.
also I am the only ranked for that soundtrack heh
phoenix @ May 6th 2008 11:29AM
I thought I was the only one who liked Brooklyn Bounce...I challenge ye *glove slap* to a duel!! muahahahah *cough* *cough*

Well, I was quite shocked to find out how many Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad songs were on Audiosurf charts. I couldn't even make the top 10 in Hit in the USA by Beat Crusaders....
Actually, I think I might give the Lion King soundtrack a shot. And definately the MK movie soundtrack.

Audiosurf is absolutely incredible. I only wish it were available for Mac, as I no longer have a PC to play it on. :(
Xbox 360 would work great too, since you could be able to network your 360 and play your Computer's music collection. This would also be a great trojan horse for MS to get more people to start networking their 360s, as I'm sure tons of people would love to play their own music collections.
And at $10, it's a complete steal. Here's to Audiosurf on Mac / Xbox 360!!!

First thing I'm going to do once I get myself a new MB Pro is partitioning out a chunk for BootCamp/XP and getting the game on there. AS really is the most use I've gotten out of my Windows machine in the last few weeks...
Ever consider trying it under Parallels?
Ryan @ May 7th 2008 9:42AM
I haven't tried parallels, but I have tried Crossover, which didn't work too well--Having a Boot Camp partition may be the best option, as full hardware acceleration will be possible and emulation can be avoided.

We should bundle joystiqs poor taste in music in a ray of howling cats!

I must be the only guy in the world who didn't like Audiosurf as much.
natureboy46 @ May 6th 2008 1:03PM
Honestly, the scrobbling might make me buy this game - I've been loathe to listen to any music lately without having it scrobbled. Haven't listened to a CD in a cd player since I signed up for last.fm

60 minute song length? I guess that would be handy if you like to play Audiosurf to podcasts.
robotplague @ May 7th 2008 3:05PM
This makes me want to get it now. Last.fm is great, one of my favorite little apps.

If this comes out for the mac, I'll buy a new mac. Because I assume it would require an Intel processor. I'm gonna go with the flow and post my Last.fm id too.

We need this for the xbox live arcade
drun @ May 6th 2008 9:47PM
I'm glad I bought it :P
Boo @ May 7th 2008 4:26AM
Is the main site for audio surf not working for anyone else? it wont load for me.
SaintMark5 @ Jun 17th 2008 12:58PM
It'd be great if they ported this to the iPhone... the accelerometer would make steering easy, and it could just pull songs from right off the iPod function, or access last.fm. If they did that, I'd gladly pay $10 again!
