Colbert none too pleased about loss to Miyamoto

But even as he scoffed at Miyamoto's contribution to the world, Colbert used a video game to settle his long-standing beef with Rain. The brave among you can watch the fateful Dance Dance Revolution competition we've also safely embedded after the break.

"If I threw barrels at an Italian plumber, they would call it a hate crime!" ha.
Nein @ May 6th 2008 5:36PM
Miyamoto didn't even invent the Wii. He didn't even have as much influence as with previous Nintendo consoles (N64's controller built around Mario64).
Doom3killer @ May 6th 2008 5:44PM
he came up with the ideas and myamoto had the whole mario 64 idea
Mr Khan @ May 6th 2008 5:53PM
Aye, and it was his and EAD's concerns with load times that got Nintendo stock on cartridges in the N64 days and with MiniDVDs in the GC days
RagnarokAngel @ May 6th 2008 7:23PM
actually he's right. Calling Miyamoto influential in this day and age is a misdemeanor, especially because it overshadows all the people at Nintendo who do work.
Miyamoto is just a figurehead now. they hang on to him because he represents what Nintendo is today. Nowadays he does very little real work.
Mr Khan @ May 6th 2008 7:25PM
He wasn't as integral to the actual development of stuff like Wii Fit and Super Mario Galaxy, but if anyone remembers "Upend the tea table" he literally re-made Twilight Princess
Co @ May 6th 2008 10:43PM
"Nowadays he does very little real work"
Oh definitely. Especially not with Galaxy at all.
/sarcasm
tmacairjordan87 @ May 6th 2008 5:36PM
Colbert's got some moves for a nerdy white guy. Freakin hilarious
samfish @ May 6th 2008 5:37PM
Colbert, you just suck. This is the second year in a row you've lost! Capitan America wouldn't have lost TWICE. You should really give back his shield since you're no longer worthy of it.
Perhaps Mr. Miyamoto would enjoy having it in his office...
Markusdragon @ May 6th 2008 6:23PM
The Cap lost the Civil War, then got himself Assassinated. That's two major losses in a pretty damn short period of time.
copa @ May 6th 2008 6:53PM
Sorry Fernando, Stewart jumped the shark. Colbert passed up Stewart last summer.

Voted down?
mmmm... Jon Stewart is funnier than Colbert.
Fernando Rocker @ May 6th 2008 5:53PM
lol
Joel McHale is not at all funny... is not even in the same level as Stewart or Colbert.
Matt Q @ May 6th 2008 5:56PM
I disagree, Bill Maher can be funny but he always comes off as being a douchebag to me.
I'd say Stewart=Colbert
brandon_r87 @ May 6th 2008 5:58PM
Who down voted Fernando? Your down votes cannot hold down the truth!
Nick the Hero of Canton @ May 6th 2008 6:00PM
Stewart has descended into pure stupidity whereas Colbert remains great satire.
Markusdragon @ May 6th 2008 6:08PM
Paul Merton & Ian Hislop > John Stewart & Stephen Colbert
Ted @ May 6th 2008 6:22PM
Sometimes Stewart is funnier (can be VERY funny, especially the one where that correspondent went to Iceland to beg them not to pull out of Iraq) but I think Colbert is funnier so that's usually what I watch :)
If I could I'd watch both every night though
BlaqueBeird @ May 7th 2008 2:09AM
John Stewart > Stephen Colbert
Why? Because Stewart owns him. No, literally. Colbert would be nothing without him.

Those videos with Rain were awesome. Colbert just keeps on bringing the epic every night.
JangoGod @ May 6th 2008 5:45PM
Ah, if only we could solve the up coming election with a dance off...
voodoomage @ May 6th 2008 5:46PM
Colbert rules... He far more funny than the others...

Comedy Central has no love for Canada ):
Mr Khan @ May 6th 2008 5:52PM
Aren't they a Viacom (MTV Networks) subsidiary?
That would explain it
brandon_r87 @ May 6th 2008 6:02PM
You're not missing much. The Daily Show and Colbert Report are the only things worth watching. Drawn Together and Reno 911 are trash, and other than that they show MadTV reruns. I guess they have Futurama now. They cancelled the one great show they had, Stella! But what if they didn't? Yaaayyy! But they did. Boooo!
tmacairjordan87 @ May 6th 2008 6:08PM
You forgot south park. Too bad chappelle show isn't on anymore they had huge ratings off that.
KeenCommander @ May 6th 2008 6:04PM
Honestly, Colbert doesn't belong anywhere on that list...not to mention at the top *prepares to die* but...you know...that's just my opinion...PUT DOWN THE GUN NIKO!
tmacairjordan87 @ May 6th 2008 6:07PM
But miyamoto and rain do belong up at the top right? It was voted by fans meaning the results are always going to be skewed and borderline ridiculous. None of those guys are close to being "most influential" in the entire world.
Mr Khan @ May 6th 2008 6:12PM
I suppose, but if you went by realistically "most influential," year after year the winner would either be George W. Bush, Hu Jintao, Singh (i forget his first name), Vladimir Putin, the Dalai Lama, and Benedict XVI
Ted @ May 6th 2008 6:29PM
Don't they have a realistic one and a vote-derived one? Obviously the vote derived one isn't going to be fair, especially with the Colbert Nation poised at their keyboards ready to strike.
KeenCommander @ May 6th 2008 6:48PM
Point taken, Miyamoto isn't that much of an important figure either and Rain...well he can go screw himself, there's way more influential musicians out there.
LAWL @ May 6th 2008 6:27PM
In my book, the man thats one of the biggest fathers of gaming would win every poll.
Yeh im a fanboy but not a shiggy fanboy, just a videogame fanboy,Will right or Gabe also got credit on their areas,as every other of the big devs that weve seen.
Feoremar @ May 6th 2008 6:17PM
Damnit, these videos never work for me! They must only work in the U.S.
D:
Ted @ May 6th 2008 6:23PM
I'm in the U.K. and they work...
Markusdragon @ May 6th 2008 6:26PM
Viacom hates Canada.
Q Manning @ May 6th 2008 7:00PM
John Stewart > Colbert.
There's a difference between funny commentary on issues compared to over the top satire. I prefer stewart by far.
Ted @ May 6th 2008 7:15PM
Sometimes Colbert is so close to the sort of things Pappa Bear O'Reilly says that it's scary... It's hard not to be 'over the top' when the stuff you're satirizing is already a satire of itself!
whiny bitch @ May 6th 2008 7:55PM
That Rain dance-off video is the funniest thing I've seen in months.
thehunter1320 @ May 6th 2008 9:47PM

Grey Acumen @ May 7th 2008 7:18PM
Is it just me, or did Cobert totally look like Travis Touchdown from No More Heroes during the dance off?
Nintendude2008 @ May 7th 2008 1:00AM
How is colbert influential? Because he makes fun of the republican party? Oh what a great pick for spot 3. I think chuck norris or that guy in the Rick rolled videos are better picks than colbert. Colbert is a freaking @$$clown.
hvnlysoldr @ May 7th 2008 12:11PM
He's influential because he had over 1.3 million fans vote for him.
