After a brief break (spent playing
Grand Theft Auto IV) we're back with Day 4 of our
GTA IV giveaway. While there's only two more days left of this Joyswag giveaway, you actually have
one more chance to win a copy of
GTA IV on your platform of choice (including a special GTA Statue of Happiness ... err, statue) by listening to
last week's Joystiq Podcast. To try your hand here, follow these simple rules:
- To enter this giveaway, leave a comment telling us your preferred platform and what your parents and/or significant other thinks about the level of violence in the games you play.
- You must be 18 years or older and a resident of the US or Canada (excluding Quebec).
- Limit 1 entry per person in this post (comment more than once and you'll be disqualified, but try again tomorrow).
- This entry period ends at 6:00pm ET on Wednesday, May 7th. We'll randomly select a winner at that time (please check your email!).

They don't care. They know I can tell the difference between a game and real life.

Mom thinks GTA is vile and should be banned. Fortunately I don't live with her anymore, so feel free to send me a free copy.

Once I proved I was mature enough to handle the graphic content of this genre, they figured I was responsible enough to get any game I wished.

My wife will read a book while I play and sometimes out of nowhere laugh at something someone said or the radio. Why would my wife care if I'm killing in a game? This question is stacked for kids, not the adult audience that GTAIV is for.

When I was a kid, my parents, though very conservative on some things understood that I was a smart enough kid to distinguish reality from fantasy, and they were pretty liberal about the games and movies I was allowed to watch..
alienclays @ May 6th 2008 6:10PM
she dosent care about the violence, but wonders why i'm playing games when i could be spending time with her.

My parents actually enjoy playing some videogames, but the violence really turns them off. They don't seem to mind *me* playing violent games though.

My girlfriends fine with all the violence in the games, it's when I rip the sofa arm by slamming the contoller into it that she's not so keen about. Poor sofa arm..
Jack McSmack @ May 6th 2008 6:12PM

She doesn't care one way or the other about the games violence.

The wife hates violence and sex in games and doesn't like it when I play them. I'm lucky though because she works 12 hour shifts on the weekend, so I get a lot of good playtime in anyway. That's my little secret, so let's just keep that between us (oh, and the rest of the internet).
David @ May 6th 2008 6:13PM
PS3, they could care less

I don't let my wife see it, because if she did then I probably wouldn't get to play it anymore. Yes... my balls were cut off long ago.

It's not a concern to them since I'm old enough.

It's more that the parental units don't much like video games in general. They don't get their knickers in a twist over the violence, just the games themselves. That said, they'd probably not appreciate the chainsaw gun... >_>
Hostile @ May 6th 2008 6:14PM

My parents never cared about what games I played. They were the ones that bought me Mortal Kombat when I was in Elementary School. Video games are something they probably wish I would stop playing but they never cared beyond just wishing that.

My girlfriend is worse than I am. At least I attempt the missions, she just picks up hookers. :(

Then I turned 18 and they trusted me enough to make my own decisions about the games I play.
