Released the day after April Fools, Mr Driller Online was criticized immediately for its lack of polish. The non-HD, up-scaled sprites and the online lag were by far the biggest complaints, and while the former is a lost cause, the latter should hopefully be fixed before month's end. Talking with IGN, Namco promised that the patch would fix the online technical glitches, but whether or not the game can be saved in both mind and market share, remains to be seen.Mr Driller Online will be patched before May is out

It's too late, I'd say. It's dead.
Looking back at any other XBLA title that was screwed up and eventually patched, I don't recall there ever being a resurgence in play or purchases. Marathon comes to mind, after that whole motion sickness thing. They fixed it, but it didn't seem to help much.
At least I won't feel like my purchase was a total waste if they fix this. I love Mr Driller, but this was a lazy, overpriced, broken mess.

depends... If your game library is mostly full of Halo and Clancy titles, probably not... if you like wacky Japanese games and/or puzzle games, then Mr. Driller's golden.
It's part Dig-Dug, part Tetris... and for the record the demo level blows, it's so easy it shouldn't even be in the game... so demo unfortunately will not give you a real taste of why Mr. Driller rocks.

I was really looking forward to this. i'd enjoyed the original on the PC and hadn't owned a console until this generation. I'd love to pick this up, but they really have to sort out the sub par sprites and online first. If they sort that, i'll buy it. I'm not supporting poor quality titles, but if they sort it out i'll give them a second chance.

I'm not sure, but I definitely remember being surprised by the game topping the Xbox Live Arcade sales charts when it first launched, despite all the negative press about the online mode.
Who knows, maybe that legion of Mr. Driller fans will come out of hiding once it's patched.
