New Games This Month: May 2008
We're already offering you a weekly update on video game releases, but we recently came to the horrifying realization that it's just not enough. What if you needed to buy Shootron: The Shooting Robot but you had spent all your money the week prior on Staboid: The Alien Who Stabs? Horrifying!
So, we decided to pull the lens back a bit and show you a list of, well, not all the new releases, but the ones we think you might be interested to hear about. And since you've already seen what's coming this week we're gonna start with the releases due on or near May 13. Also, since this list is subject to change, we'll try to keep it updated throughout the month.
Read on, savvy shopper! Read on!

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZE! I am sooo getting it on day one.
samfish @ May 6th 2008 11:15AM
More like the month of Mehay.
...except Wii Fit. I'm totally buying it day 1.
Fernando Rocker @ May 6th 2008 11:17AM
And WiiWare =p
samfish @ May 6th 2008 11:21AM
'eh...let's see what they actually launch with, first, since the apparently aren't going to say until Monday, now.
Korova @ May 6th 2008 12:06PM
more like DAY WON!
Shadow El @ May 6th 2008 4:29PM
I dunno, but come June, WiiWare gets SBCG4AP. Automatic win, especially coming from Telltale Games.
Sir Fidlious Wong (Zeon Defense Force) @ May 6th 2008 11:17AM
Singstar and Battle Fantasia for me.....
I'M NORMAL!
Fernando Rocker @ May 6th 2008 11:20AM
I'm happy this month with WiiWare and the new Nintendo Channel.
Oh, and there's this game called Blast Works for the Wii. Looks very good.
Anticrawl @ May 6th 2008 11:38AM
To bad it isn't Blast Corps, I loved that 64 game.
arrrgh @ May 6th 2008 11:51AM
+1 blast corps was amaaaazing
t_m @ May 6th 2008 11:54AM
Isn't Blast Corps another Rare one? Turns out that ALL good n64 games were by Rare. Nintendo should really have got a VC license when they sold them to MS.
For a minute I was really excited about Blast Works for Wii... but then I realised I was thinking of Blast Miner. Boy that game sucked hours from my life. (in puzzle mode of course).
I appreciated the art style of Tumiki Fighters, but the actual gameplay never really did it for me... so i don't really have much interest in Blast Works.
Anticrawl @ May 6th 2008 1:02PM
Yeah it was a Rare game, along with Goldeneye they are among my (if not) my favorite 64 games. I would love to see Blast Corps on Xbox Live Arcade or as a VC download, doubt that will ever happen though. I don't remember it being a very mainstream game.
Lianne @ May 6th 2008 11:22AM
The only games that look interesting at all to me are Quake Wars and Lost Planet Colonies.
Kevin @ May 6th 2008 2:48PM
I have Quake Wars for PC. I rate it a solid meh. It's kinda fun to blow up all the vehicles with a rocket launcher, but unless you've been playing it forever, 90% chance you'll be on the losing team every time.
(And the losing team is the one that can't get achievements, because achievements are objective based. Defenders don't have objectives...)
But I'm not bitter.
Mo @ May 6th 2008 11:23AM
Hmm...I may get bashed for knowing this, but why is there a pic of britney spears on the right with the blonde hair
miyagi @ May 6th 2008 11:25AM
It's from Singstar
riddle.of.epicurus @ May 6th 2008 11:26AM
Leaving out Super Dodgeball Brawlers (DS) = fission mailed.
Neil @ May 6th 2008 11:29AM
I wish Joystiq would present a more international view of game releases. The most significant game coming this month for me is going to be Race Driver: GRID which launches here in Europe on May 30th.
t_m @ May 6th 2008 11:57AM
Yeah... you guys need few international correspondents. Or failing that, a "us-only" tag so we can all filter out this stuff in our news-readers.
Also, please fix your gallery so it actually shows the images full size.. or am i missing something obvious.
(i tend to think not, as you still haven't fixed the links in the "someone has replied" emails, at least 6 months on, and after having a specific post where everyone pointed it out. Its a 5 minute fix to the code... honest. )
baby sea tuna @ May 6th 2008 11:32AM
Thank god there's nothing good coming out. I'll be too busy playing GTA and Phantom Hourglass anyway. Maybe I'll even go and pick up Mario Kart and Boom Blox at some point, but the urge isn't that pressing.
Markez (MKWii 4339-2878-5120) @ May 6th 2008 11:52AM
Man I stalled out on Phantom Hourglass and haven't picked it up in awhile. As you can likely guess I'm at a point where I have to go into the Ocean King Temple again.
I can't handle any new games this month. GTAIV and Mario Kart releasing so close to each other has really burgled most of my gaming time.
Burgled?
baby sea tuna @ May 6th 2008 12:35PM
Yes, burgled is totally a word!
An awesome, awesome word.
Ozborne @ May 6th 2008 11:38AM
Shit, Shootron is coming out this month? I haven't even figured out which system to get it on.
t_m @ May 6th 2008 12:01PM
Myst DS had some MAJOR issues in the UK release. Don't know if they have been ironed out for the US release or not, but it might be worth checking, or waiting for a review or two.
In the meantime, look up a few customer reviews on amazon.co.uk
kingalekz @ May 6th 2008 3:14PM
Yes, Myst DS is buggy as hell. Almost unplayable. Not worth your money. At least the european version.
Mag64.de even refused to give it a rating (= a 0% rating). They called it a "rushed out beta version".
Crashes regularly and is very badly localized (at least into german language).
FOXHOUND @ May 6th 2008 12:13PM
Unless the crimson "Kratos" PSP comes out this month, I guess my money's saved for June. :\
Cabal @ May 6th 2008 1:16PM
Mass Effect PC for me, maybe Wii Fit after some game comes out with a reason to want the balance board.
Deadpool @ May 6th 2008 2:08PM
It's too bad about the draconian copy-protection on Mass Effect PC, otherwise I'd have a reason to be excited about new releases this month.
Luke Rising @ May 6th 2008 6:09PM
Don't Forget. That Rock Band hits Europe this Month!.
LAWL @ May 6th 2008 6:28PM
Age of Conan, thats the game ive been waiting for.
Im like sot of an hyperactive squirrell right now, waiting and waiting for these game,is it 20 yet?
