If you were furiously pounding F5 to follow along with PS3 Fanboy's live coverage of PlayStation Day 2008, you probably felt a little pang of sadness as our man, Jem Alexander, got to see some new footage from Mirror's Edge, Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 while you had to make do with reading his text second-hand.

By the way... the first time I saw some images from Mirror's Edge, my first thought was that one scene of the game looks like it was designed by the Joystiq crew.

That's a pretty lame reason to boycott the game. So far this game looks pretty cool and it's different from the crowds of, "LOL SHOOT EVERYTHING IN SITE" games that have come out. If it turns out to be good, support it. Who knows? It may convince EA and other developers that a game doesn't need to be a hardcore fps in order to sell well.

Mirror's Edge is also coming for the PC, as long as DICE doesn't give it a case of consolitis it could be a incredible game and redefine the FPS genre.

can you imagine the perfection of execution that has to go into the redefinition of a genre? GTA IV came close but it's still GTA. this is still an FPS.

Mirror's Edge has me really excited, but I just don't know if it will really work as a full length game without adding in bullshit filler shooting sequences. It almost reminds me of Portal, both in asthetics and concept. If Portal had been stretched out to a full-length game-time with too many crappy stages, it wouldn't be nearly as memorable and classic.

It's a game based on free-running or parkour - I think they're different but I can't tell them apart. Anyway, you basically have to escape the long arm of the law in an anti-utopian society by free running some rooftops.
In Metal Gear Solid you 'sneak that shit'.
In Mirror's edge you parkour it ^^

I hate poor quality videos and what's with the sound?
KZ2 video was nothing new but I'm so buying the damn game too bad is going to be released next year.
Resistance 2 looks good but the online modes sound Lagtastic.
I'm keeping an eye on Mirror's Edge.Weird but somehow Mirror's Edge reminds me of Sonic.

Sony released 2 gameplay including this one so far. The first one was E3. Go to IGN.com, search for Killzone 2, and you should be able to watch the vid.

This trailer DOES have some gameplay in it, but it's only very brief glimpses, I was kinda hoping they would have released something big by now.
I don't actually own a PS3 and the first KZ was a pretty mediocre game, but if KZ2 is actually good I might considering buying a PS3 as there are a couple other games I am interested in playing on it too.

I really hoped Sony has some amazing announcements or even a game release in the summer. They are probably saving the incredible awesomeness for E3.

Is it me or does Killzone 2 have a quake or quake wars feel to it? Don't get me wrong, the game the looks very good, but I wonder if it will be very memorable or a big seller.
It semms like most people get jazzed about a great story inside a game like killzone. Take the Halo series, GTA, Bioshock, Call of Duty 4, etc. These have good stories that suck people into the game.
I hope they remember to work as hard on the story as they do the technology.

The setting and visual appearance of Quake Wars had me interested up until release. It was the fact that it played like dog shit and the gameplay mechanics were 2 generations old.

After seeing the time and effort that went into CoD4's NPC animations, i can't look at another future title and go "bleh". I know that CoD4 is a bunch of scripted nonsense, but they made that game look damn good (especially that it's playable on my p4 2.4ghz, radeon 9700).
CoD4 really upped the ante on what game quality is all about, and i hope these games can deliver.

Mirror' Edge looks like a cool concept, but there's just no way it's gonna work.
It's basically a first person game about jumping...the hardest thing to do in ANY first person game.

Graphics look like crap. Deent camera movement, but hte field of view is way too tight. It makes it look like yourhands and arms are attached about 3 feet away from your body. The overall parkour movement is cool, but nothing there made me go WOW!

Where this fails at is being a platformer essentially in first person view.
The idea of it being a platformer with a possible great story, innovative and amazing gameplay, and breathtaking graphics is great...
But, it's obviously, and sadly put in first person (with the occasional gun tossed in) because it's all that appeals to today's crowd of gaming mongoloids. >_>

Very Sad. But, who knows...maybe this will be good, and work out!
