If you were furiously pounding F5 to follow along with PS3 Fanboy's live coverage of PlayStation Day 2008, you probably felt a little pang of sadness as our man, Jem Alexander, got to see some new footage from Mirror's Edge, Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 while you had to make do with reading his text second-hand.

I thought the exact opposite. Where it excels is in being in 1st person, because that makes it unique, original and immersive.
Who needs another 3rd person platform game? This on the otherhand looks totally NOT dumbed down, has a unique style and art direction, and actually seems like a game that might BE next-gen... rather than simply being a last gen game with better graphics.

Interesting concept.
Here's hoping it works out for the best... or at least, here's hoping the soundtrack comes out separately, them was some good tunes.

This is why I still read gaming magazines. There have been at least two large articles about this game in recent months, so I've heard plenty about it. it's good to finally see some video of it, though. It looks just as good as I imagined. I'll be keeping a close eye on this one - it may be added to The List.

THIS is what next-gen gaming should be about: style over realism.

Looks awesome. I love the way new FPS games show your limbs and body in game... it really adds to the immersion, and gives them a lot more options in terms of throwing the player around.
I hope they don't overdo the shooting part, and keep it mostly about the freerunning. The problem with the latter Prince of Persia games, and Assasin's creed was that they tried to jam too much combat in there and took away from the freerunning experience. Hopefully guns will be limited to a few situations and a few bullets.
The really difficult thing is having the right risk/reward to encourage players to race through the levels in free-running style, rather than being too cautious and stopping every few seconds, but not make it too annoying or sudden death with things like timed runs that you have to keep repeating.
A rewind option would be very useful. Personally I think all games should have a rewind option, as it takes 90% of the frustration out of games, and prevents the endless repetition from death, quicksaves and checkpoints. But in games like this its almost essential.

It's an interesting concept, but it looks superficial if you look past the shiny graphics. Of course I don't want to rip on a game that is obviously still in development, but platforming games are about jumping puzzles and daft timing. Running on the wall just for the sake of running on a wall is trite in execution if it's not for a specific purpose. Even then, as seen in Prince of Persia, it just boils down to moving your character around. Even with the most flashy animation sequences and the ability to see your feet in the 1st person perspective the game play (as seen from this video) is reduced to little more than just moving a character around in a 3d box. Moving an avatar around just for the sake of moving an Avatar around in a 3d box does not a game make.
