This is relatively old news for those in the know. I've been anticipating a full announcement for a year and a half now.

Doom 3 was superior to Half-Life 2.

Among the old and new FPS games,Doom is not one that specialy calls my attention ATM,tho well see if that franchise can do something good now.

It was good in it's time, only as good as your last game so there we are!

Yeah, pretty challenging achievements. Basically, finish the game on Ultra Violence mode.

I'll settle for a Doom 2.5, a heretic 1.5, hexen 1.5 !

keep it simple.. Same game, gameplay.. updated graphics.. i almost rather them not be state of the art.. put the focus on fun.. on atmosphere, gameplay , co-op.. deathmatch.. cyberdemons.. hell.. u can even build off of hte same levels. No game that I can think of even comes close to the original doom 1 & 2. Doom 3 could have easily been called something else entirely. Good game, but not even a shadow of the original.

I was just thinking the other day "Damn, i really wish there would be a new Doom" and now there will be.

Thats great news. However the lack of an exclamation mark at the end of my first sentence is because i have some concerns about the directon id are taking with Doom. For sure i enjoyed Doom 3 while it lasted (and RoE), but i think the majority of Doom fans preffered and probably still play the original game. What made Doom great in the first place was not only the horror, but the simplicity of the game. The best games usually are simple. Find the keys and survive- thats all there is to it. And the original was quick and responsive. Doom 3 is a different beast, instead relying on cramped corridors and a less agile marine to put the fear in you. Hiding stashes of weapons in locked storage and having to access the pda also spoiled the pace of the game. I'm hoping for a game truer to the original. The best part of the game should be spent in hell, and should offer large open environments as well as tight corridors and stairs.

I'd be more stoked to hear news that Doom 2 and Final Doom were coming to XBLA actually! Fingers crossed.

Doom3 sucked very much and everyone who is true doom fan know that. The only players who liked doom3 was the little scared children that was even under the allowed age.Get real and start playing real games.

I am playing Doom 3 again, its the only game I bothered to keep.

Closet monsters dont make sense, better if they were like aliens and blend in with the walls, and most of the monsters aren't very good with the exception of the marines, but I guess that might have to do with realism.

I like watching the movies, trying to listen to audio records and then walking around examining stuff. Using computers and keypads is SS2 cool (I hate all the shock games).

Doom world is tidier than my house, so I dont have to look at all my own paperwork.

Guns is where the fun is, chain, nail, rocket, bfg. I wish the body physics was better and those demons could be thrown around and bash into each other, (man gta4 actor physics is awesome!)

Quake3 for best game ever.

Half life 2 was so boring I would prefer to shot myself in the foot!

I've got doom 3 for the xbox and am currently playing through it for a third time. to me it is the best fps horror game. the lighting, and sound effects were crazy creepy, and I still jump when an imp jumps out at me from behind an alcove I didn't see!
